Someone has let crazy Hideo Kojima out his box again, being a huge fan of twitter he has designed his own version of the social network he is calling Metal Gear TW. The idea behind the app is that it will use your Twitter name and followers and wll allow you to send out tweets using its camoflouge mode so only certain people you want to can see your tweets. The app coming to IOS is due later this year

Good enough promo for Metal Gear....mental enough as well

Never released a MGS for the ds
And with reason.

Please explain

It would have been hard to port/create an MGS game for the platform well? The power and control set up of the device weren't optimal for MGS' gameplay.

ohhh I dunno...
I'm going to take a wild guess there and assume that wasn't the kind of game he wanted for the DS.

Metal Gear Solid =/= Metal Gear.

Same universe, different principles. Metal Gear Solid games are 3D sneaking games, Metal Gear games are 2D sneaking games, Metal Gear Ac!d games are card games. Kojima and his team have been faithful to this scheme, which is why Metal Gear: Ghost Babel was called "Metal Gear". Unfortunately it was badly translated into Metal Gear Solid for Gameboy Colour in the west, which caused some confusion.

But those peculiarities aside, yes, Metal Gear has 2D top-down roots.

point missed

If Konami wanted to, you could fashion a Metal Gear Solid game to a DS reguardless of power. Keep in mind that game came out a year after Metal Gear Solid on the PSOne, I don't recall excuses of "The Gameboy doesn't have enough power to do Metal Gear"

Never released a MGS for the ds but releases twitter app for ios. Stick to your job.
MGS (not the 2D ones) wouldn't work so well on the DS due to limitations of the platform. And Kojima did bring MGS: Snake Eater to the DS's successor, 3DS (even if it was a lazy port).

And as others have mentioned, there's a difference between Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear as a whole.

Being 2d and 3d. Still I reckon a Metal Gear Solid game could have been done on the DS in a similar manner to the one on the PSOne and been pretty good.

This seems like the most unnecessary/random app ever.

I don't even see how they can make an app that integrates into Twitter, I don't see the point of this, and I don't see how they even thought of this.

Well, whatever. It may end up being good I guess. No point of shooting it down before it comes out.

Evidently, Kojima and co. didn't agree and/or think it was worth the effort.
