Port of a zuma decompilation to the switch. The last feature to implement is music. Game data not included in download. This port requires handheld mode, it is entirely controlled by the touch screen.

Instructions
  • Download the windows game "Zuma Deluxe" from somewhere on the internet
  • Create a new folder called sdmc:/switch/zumaportable
  • Copy nro and game data to the above folder

Another great port, thanks! I wonder if it'd be possible to somehow implement the controller support from the Android TV version (which is based on the PC version), or at the very least controller mouse support like some of the Android touch game ports have

Could you please explain a little bit the proper structure of the directories?.. Like like /switch/zumaportable/lib and /switch/zumaportable/assets, or?.. What's the exact version of Android game to unpack?

For now the game gives me that error, unfortunately:

This uses the PC versions files. Copy everything from a PC install aside from the exe into the same folder as the nro

You should post source. You should also take this cursor implementations I use in my ports for USB mouse support, gyro support and left stick support for moving cursor.

It uses the PC version's files, copy all the files aside from the .exe into the same folder as the .nro. Currently though, this port is handheld / touch screen only. I'm thinking about doing my own port to add mouse / controller support soon if OP never answers me back.

  1. fork the project: https://github.com/kyle-sylvestre/PvZ-Portable
  2. click "Actions" tab on the project page
  3. click "CI build" on the far left
  4. click "Run workflow"
  5. click "Branch: main"
  6. click "zuma-switch" or "joystick" (joystick has gamepad implemented)
  7. click "Build Nintendo Switch Release" checkbox
  8. click "Run workflow"
I got gamepads working on macOS but I couldn't get it to work in the eden emulator. I don't have a switch so I couldn't debug why it wasn't working.

Can you test this build? I'm wondering if the joystick branch was already working on real hardware and not the emulator. It would be great if you could fix the music issue.

What about this build? I grabbed a few changes from your PR, the goal is to get the joystick branch working then merge it into zuma-switch.

To play music and trigger the crash, you'll need to clone this repo and checkout the joystick branch: https://github.com/kyle-sylvestre/CircleShootApp/. Remove these lines in CircleShootApp.cpp to trigger the crash:

void CircleShootApp::PlaySong(int id, bool fade, double fadeSpeed)
{
#if defined(__SWITCH__)
// TODO: figure out why this is crashing
return;
#endif

To build any new changes, you'll have to change the repository and ref in PvZ-Portable/.github/workflows/ci.yml

I was able to get that working (D-Pad for menu navigation, Start to pause, A for select / shooting ball, Left Stick for spinning Zuma and B for switching balls), and went ahead and submitted a PR to your zuma-switch branch. https://github.com/kyle-sylvestre/PvZ-Portable/pull/1

I also attached a pre-built .nro you (and anyone else) can test out. Setup should be identical as described (put PC version's files and .nro in sdmc:/switch/zumaportable). Let me know what you think, and if you want me to try to look into the music issue

It's working, but A and B are swapped (also the handheld mode check is still present). I'm about to look at the music issue now

I'm attaching an updated .nro to test out, but it seemed to be working good in my testing

I implemented the changes but it's crashing in the emulator. What's strange is your build is working, can you take a look at my joystick branch for both repos? I'm building it with the joystick pipeline. Attached is the build with all the changes built from pipeline.
