I find my 3DS XL battery is far worse than my 3DS, which is odd seeing as the life is meant to be better.

I put it into sleep mode whilst I'm at work for 4 hours, maybe play the Mii dungeon and puzzle games and then turn it off before i get home. Then I bring it in the next day for another 4 or 6 hours (in sleep mode) and by the time i go to check it it's dead.
I used my 3DS to do this before I upgraded to 3DS XL and it was fine, it lasted a good few days and didn't die on me in sleep mode. I would walk around cities with my old 3DS all day and it'd be fine.

I was just wondering how long everyone else's lasts in sleep mode? Does yours die out in sleep mode pretty fast?
Maybe there's a fault with mine.

Also, do ROM cards run the battery down faster?

Dunno about sleep mode but i get around 7 hours battery life when its On with wifi.
And with Rom cards u mean flashcards??

flash carts with onboard RAM make the battery decrease really fast, even when they're closed, as long as the system is on. I had this problem with my original 3DS, and the problem was gone as soon as I stopped using my SuperCard.

My 3DS XL has fantastic battery.

it shouldn't be draining that fast i leave my 3ds in sleep mode a few hours and the battery is half full, you could always try optimizing the battery and see if you get a better charge.

Thanks.
I'll give it a test over the next few days without the Supercard DSTWO inside.
Otherwise it could be a false bottom.

Is this also valid for the DS lite's sleep mode, when you're using a slot-2 cartridge that has RAM expansion like 3in1?

One of the main issues is that there's no actual sleep mode DS-mode (or DSi-mode IIRC).

When you close the system it turns the screen off and sends a signal to the game that the lid was closed. At this point the game will usually pause, and many of them will make a small sound or something to note that the lid is open or closed. The game is still running, however...

For a striking example, see DS-H.

It's main purpose requires the DS to be closed, but it still runs.

I make sure there are no games running by closing them properly when not playing.
That harmonica Homebrew sounds pretty cool!

I've kept my Supercard DSTWO in a case outside of my 3DS XL, and the battery is much much better now. I've had a full battery for 2 days and it's still running now on 1 bar down. So it was definitely having the DSTWO Supercard in the 3DS XL when it wasn't in use :D
Thankies muchly!

If it was simply having the DSTwo in while not having run in (IE, using 3DS functions), then that is some concern if it doesn't happen with other carts.
That is what happens. According to my experience, anyway. Just having the cart plugged in while the system is on causes the onboard RAM of the SCDST to run, draining massive battery, even more than if you were even playing a 3DS game.

Closing games how? Returning to the DSTwo's main menu? That still leaves the cart running, as the 3DS is operating in DS-mode.

Closing 3DS games by pressing 'X' to stop it running in the background.
Exiting a normal DS game (the DSTWO cartridge) by pressing home.

You should update the 360 to newest dash before RGHing it yes. But not a big deal if you don't, you can install new dash/avatar updates after.
