Included HDMI cable. What sorcery is this!? Seriously, even the PS3 only included a composite video cable.
Maybe they really want to push the fact that the system can waltz with modern graphics, and if they included old-spec cables people might think it's a lie?

True that, and seeing how more people have HDTVs than they did back in 2006, I can see why. No spending $500 on a Monster cable for me it seems.

32GB SSD! HDMI cable! 1080p!
l.jpg

This begins to actually sound like a modern console!

On a serious note, I'm really eager to see what games like Zelda and Mario would look like in blazing 1080p.
Nintendo really knows how to make use of the power of their consoles. Not only in a performance way, but also in an artistic direction kinda way. Take Super Mario Galaxy (2) and Skyward Sword for example.

That's not a 32GB SSD or HDD, but 32GB of Flash RAM. HDDs and other devices expand the built in storage.

There's a problem...

SSD is way too expensive, if the devs manage to "unlock" the console to run games through backups we'll need to buy a bigger SSD :\, or maybe we'll be able to use a common external HDD, i don't know the console is not even released and i'm already thinkink about backup games O.O

Obviously this is just a tech demo and yeah you can use Dolphin but I am excited to see Nintendo make something specifically for this rather than just upgraded visuals.

I'll be honest this is about as realistic I'd want the characters to look.

Why is everybody pissing their pants over 32gb of storage like its some enormous amount? 32gb is actually really really crap by today's standards, I mean look at the PS3 and 360 they have had way more than that for years. In this day in age 32gb really doesn't go a long way in terms of live/psn games, dlc and game patches etc. I would have hoped to have seen around 250gb myself, anyway I hope the wii u's memory is expandable via usb etc.

If it's only for VC and Wii UWare, then it should be enough.
If the Wii U allows downloading disc data, then I don't think it's enough. We also need to know if it's interchangeable. Good SSDs are becoming really cheap nowadays.

I didn't think anyone was "pissing their pants", more the opposite from what I've read. I'm only interested in the Premium pack for ZombiU which I would have grabbed anyway and the Nintendo Premium thing is a nice addition where you get 10% discounts. And yep you can certainly pick up a USB HDD and plug it in. No propriety cards or HDD for Nintendo.

Erm PS3 needs the EyeToy for motion control which is like a shitload more expensive and nowhere near as useful.

And also wii motes work with the wii u so of course there would be a sensor bar for that.

Wiimotes need the sensor bar. If you want Wiimote support, you need the sensor bar. Wii U supports Wiimotes. Therefore, sensor bar.

Not forgetting that the Gamepad & Pro Controller are bluetooth anyway so it's hardly Nintendo skimping here.

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.

It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.

Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
