What is it?
It's an interception d3d9.dll that you place in the same folder as the game executable. It intercepts the game's calls to the DirectX 9 API and changes them as necessary to enable a higher internal rendering resolution.

there is not much difference between the pictures, also this patch will mess up in game text in menus and effect other stuff, i would stay away till there is a proper working patch.
I'm pretty sure he fixed it in the latest patch.

Oh and the difference is that it's clearer and not the blurry shit from before. Also dat last pic at 3840x2400.

Meh I'm no graphic whore so I was never bothered by it on the xbox version. (though the FPS drop in blightown was horrible)

It still plays like something being run by an emulator.

I haven't played a port this bad since RE4. Not that I'm all that fussed, I grabbed it as a curiosity seeing I wasn't overly fond of the PS3 version. Very overrated game for me, it's not all that hard and it feels very dated.

Still looks like there is no AA in the updated pictures...
(4K does look nice though)

Also, Dead space 1 was a literal console port... No extra's for pc, 2 didn't have acces to official dlc (was "hacked" ).
Luckely there still are some pc games :)
S.T.A.L.K.E.R etc.

Wow...good to know. Last week I purchased a new gaming laptop ( Dell XPS L502X ) with an nVidia GT 540M and I'm planning on getting this ( hopefully it'll run alright ).

It's funny how I holded off several months waiting to get Wii U instead of a gaming PC, and now that we are getting close to the release date I went the other way.....but anyway, I' ve always been a PC gamer, there's so much content out there for me to grab ( old and new ), plus hi-res patches, emulators, comunity mods and so on, that'll keep me busy for the next couple of years.

I played half way trough DS on my nephew 360, and the graphics didn't bother me at all. Now I'm itching to get back to it, in the ultimate edition.....
I'm preparing to die......

By the way, speaking of Dead Space 2 PC port, the game was also locked at 30fps, but I found a trick that allowed me to remove the lock by editing the games's profile option in the nVidia control panel, than it was smooth sailing.

I wonder if I could do the same with DS.....

Its not like they changed the textures or anything.
Doesnt look THAT different to me.
It is actually quite different. Look at the pictures, one is really blurry and the other is precise and sharp. You would probably see the difference by playing the game, I can assure you 1024x720ish resolution looks like crap compared to 1920x1080.

Still, even is the patch is awesome, I refuse to buy a game which developers doesn't care enough to allow different resolutions and an unlocked framerate. It's not like it's difficult to make, it would take 5 minutes for a developer having the source code to make a similar official patch. They really don't give a crap about PC players, and that bothers me.

If it feels dated, that's probably because it is. Demon's and Dark Souls are the spiritual successors to the King's Field games, which, even in their time, were notorious for being slow and clunky. How and why on earth these newer titles became outrageously popular (to the point where everyone has heard of them, yet 'nobody' has heard of King's Field) is beyond me. Good graphics maybe?

The game's kinda like Monster Hunter in that the difficulty comes from struggling with clunky controls or combat. I personally don't find it fun at all but I've never played Dark Souls really.

I thought the difficulty in Monster Hunter came from everyone trying to play it solo when it was intended to be a multiplayer game -_-

edit - not that I blame people, because the first title was released for the PS2, which had a hoppin' online community in Japan, but virtually none in the US, but for FFXI (maybe?)

there is definitely a significant difference when looking at the before and after goes to show not all devs check for all the bugs before a release good thing there are hackers and patchers out there that like to fix stuff like this, games should be more open sourced so that when there is an issue like this other devs or programmers can come in a fix issues and send out patches
