Hardware Sony PSP noob...

hello everyone !!

i am thinking about purchasing a sony psp-3000 this month...and i would like to hack it and such.

i was wondering which one of these i should purchase :

Either should work, just note that refurbished means it's been used.

PSP games can be up to 1.8GB (the size of the ISO, and some games can require install data on top of that), so 4GB isn't enough unless you only plan to have two to three big games at a time (depending on size).

You'll need either a memory stick reader, or a USB cable to hook the PSP up to your PC in order to read and write to the memory stick.

okay, i will go with the "PSP Go/Slim USB Data and Power Cable by MadCatz" since it is cheaper !!

also, i would then connect the PSP to a USB port on my computer and follow the soft-mod guide ?

Yeah. You just need a way to stick the firmware and CFW files on the PSP to run them.

Btw, it's cheaper to buy a ms pro duo -> microsd adapter and buy a cheap 16GB microsd card with it.
And a decicated card reader is better than using a usb cable, you'll get faster speed with a card reader.

Don't get a MicroSD to Pro Duo adapter. They don't compare to the real thing in speed or reliability and give people all sorts of issues...

No. Just get a Sandisk Pro Duo....don't mess around with adapters for whatever other memory cards you have.

Get a PSP, a 4GB to 8GB Pro Duo (Sandisk) and a USB Pro Duo adapter. And possibly some form of case or skin (i have both)...

Also, don't get a PSP Go. Ever....

I go overkill to protect my PSP('s) with the Best Skins Ever full body/screen skin and the Logitech Playgear Pocket case.

A USB to Pro Duo adapter isn't essential...it's just a tad quicker than using a USB cable direct to the PSP.

okay...it came with firmware 6.60.

so...i tried using the ChronoSwitch Downgrader.

Wait, make sure you're downloading the 6.20 firmware for the PSP 1000/2000/3000, and not the 6.20 download for the Go.

i created and copied the "UPDATE" folder and such in the PSP/GAME folder
