...how the hell do i save in this game? and not quick save :(
Defeat a boss level, or buy a tangent path(like ones to toad house and extra levels). It also says when you finish the game, you can save at any time.
Better yet, do a warp cannon level.
They're quick to clear, don't waste Star coins, and with practice the first one is a reliable way to put a Gold Flower in your inventory.
And then it'll save, easy.

Anyhow I beat the game 100%, minus the coin collecting shenanigans.
It took me a little over 13.25 hours to get 5 stars on my save file. I'll be trying out Coin Rush mode later, and maybe giving a crack at earning some coins towards that pointless million coin goal.

I envy you guys getting this game before me. I have to wait for my next paycheck, which is end of the month to download this. :(

So what your opinions on this game? Likes and dislikes...

Oh what happened to retail vouchers for E-shop games? I thought Nintendo said it was an option and could possibly be cheaper than direct E-shop downloads. :P

I asked about the retail vouchers in my local GAME store and they knew nothing about it, yet the Club Nintendo survey I filled out suggested you could get them from a general entertainment, media or book store, toy store, electronics store, department store, online retailer, supermarket, hypermarket or specialist gamestore.

It's a good game but I feel it gets a bit repetitive unfortunately, you'll soon find they use the same tired tricks all over the place, like hidden vine blocks in the same predictable places, same hidden item block before the boss door, etc.
They really loved using those green snaking blocks for some reason.

The most challenge you'll get from the game is figuring out all of the secret exits to levels, some of them are crazy.
One in particular might completely throw you for a loop.

so, does this game have a mandatory update?
I've heard firmware 4.1, even though current is 4.3 I think.

Mandatory updates are pretty much harmless and sometimes good to have anyway, it's an old update and most flashcarts have easily circumvented it already.

gamefreakjf11, people saying 3DS games look like crap wasn't directed to you. What I mean with the Vita being ahead its time is, that because of its power it is simply too expensive. I think no hand-held will ever sell well at 250$, even the 3DS. So having a powerful hand-held (or console) is a design choice. It's about the ballance between processing power and prize, not which company has more "muscules" to built the better system. At the end the games make the system (just look at PS2, the weakest of the three).
Seriously, 3DS games look good enough and there's no need to constantly reduce it to its weak hardware. The same goes for the Vita. There's no need to constantly pick on it for not selling to good atm.
I'm done with trying to debate with you. You either don't seem to follow logic, or you just skim my post for a few seconds before replying.
Same here :)

Grabbed my copy just now. The graphics are pretty sweet (a bit of pixelation on mario when playing on the LL but doesnt really matter cuz it's barely noticeable).

The only complain I have so far is the lack of autosave. Someone needs to email Nintendo to release a patch for it.

Liking the improved graphics and neat new designs so far, but the difficulty is still rather sad. Beat the game quickly with all the cannons just to get Luigi, and now I'm plowing through the game towards 100%.
Cannon levels are my favorite, but they're so short. :( Guess I have to wait until Rayman Legends to get my intense platforming back on.

I caved for the DL version instead of retail packaging, and I quite like having it right there with your other cartridge game (Kid Icarus!). It's just there when you wanna do a quick Coin Rush on the go, and you won't screw up your game on the off chance that you pop the cartridge out in your pocket.
But even though NA's not getting a gold box or reversible covers/boxart, paying a full $40 without the box feels like crap. (And I'm still very sad that I'm not getting challenge out of this game.) Oh well, grinding on to modern platforming until 100%.

SM3D has it. So definitely I should expect this to have it too.

Super mario 3D land fits in the new super mario bros series?
No.
Super mario 64 didn't have autosave but super mario world had. (in this case though it's the 2d game that does not have autosave)

New super mario bros for DS didn't have autosave either, and neither did the wii version (If I remember right)

SM3DL is played differently to the NSMB series. You have a slight challenge to make it to through the castle to save and test your skills.

Anyhow you have so many lives to play with, it's not a hard game compared to the very first Mario game. ;)

Ok...

why?
Typo,cant you see it?
Btw,i didnt expect Nintendo to do this.Weird, seems like a first for them.
So much for cram school...

This game is quite fun actually. Made it to the mushroom world on my 1st try.
The 3D in this game is plain BS though. They could have made the platforms at least pop out or something.

The game is about 330MB if I'm correct, which makes it wayyyyyy bigger than the original NSMB DS.

I ordered this game and will be collecting it tomorrow. I sure hope that $79 will be worth it.
But it's Mario.

Here in Brazil it's $74 and I'm not going to buy so soon.
This is too expensive for a game like this

I am brazilian too, I downloaded via the canadian eshop for 40 canadian dollars \o/

I should use this trick too! o.o
