I have no idea if it's relevant but... the DSi mode isn't even cracked yet. Perhaps due to lack of interest but, I call this 3DS "decrypt" just baby steps.

you think everyone able to do this?
also extracting is easy, same as rom dumping
getting it back on is the impossible feat

You should post some of the other pics aswell. That big glue thing has a friggin lot of wires inside, now it looks a lot easier than it is XD

can we really trust people with a psot like that tho?

Can we really trust people with just this?

TODO list:
[18:38] exciting!
[18:38] 1. decrypt firmware
[18:38] 2. pwn arm9
[18:38] 3. ???
[18:38] 4. profit!
[18:38] scratch 1 from TODO list ;-)

Even if it's not him who actually got the news first, but is it true?

Also, why you don't trust someone who forwards a post ANOTHER person did (in this case, me)?
Just like you will not believe my post either, but are both actually true? Well, mine I can safely say it was from the IRC, I was there when he said it, and some others could also say the same.

Besides, if there's the fact that the firmware would be decrypted... It's a remainder: 3DS ROMs, Homebrews, won't run. This discussion actually means nothing now, and to me, most posts AREN'T EVEN on topic.

But anyway if the firmware was decrypted, that's actually something that could be said on 3dbrew.org, not just on IRC!

[19:12] firmware isn't really decrypted
So some of us talked to him and he said this. No luck guys.

I could care less about pirating games... just give me the ability to properly emulate NES, SNES, and GBA ROMs with decent performance and enough resolution, and I'll be happy.
Oh, I see.
You don't want pirated games.
You just want a way to use emulators with pirated ROMs you clearly didn't dump yourself?

Someone will have to explain to me how emulation is not piracy.
Oh, you dumped them yourself? your own NES and SNES cartridge?
ok then, that's fine. not piracy. (just hypocrisy)

They're discontinued. It's not like he can pay Nintendo anymore for the games, even if he wants to.

That doesn't change that the're pirated. Besides Nintendo makes money off a lot of their old titles via Virtual console.

discontinued doesn't mean license free, or public domain. they are still copyrighted, and Nintendo is still making money with them (it's called eshop, Nintendo Network).
only very few games are in public domain, because the companies are closed, and it's only for American companies. But I'm not sure it makes it legal to download them.
I was just reacting on the "I don't want to pirate, I just want to use things I don't own legally". (Discontinued has nothing to do with his right to pirate it).

Let's talk about 3DS firmware description :P

Ah well i will wait for the 3DS JB (might never come)

a Jailbreak will never come because Jailbreaking is for APPLE DEVICES!!!!
the ps3 was only called a jailbreak because it was done by George Hotz who did the Apple Hack

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but why do you say it is hypocrisy to dump your own cartridges?

Actually, it was called jailbreak before geohot did anything useful, with the PSJailbreak dongle, the first publicly usable/useful exploit for the PS3. Which was named that, well, I don't really know why. Probably to cash in on the iOS jailbreak scene, and because the term "jailbreak" is much more known to the general public than "homebrew" or "modchips" or whatever.

"Jailbreaking" is not a device exclusive word. I don't even know who told you that and convince you well enough to believe it.

jailbreaking

the process of removing the limitations imposed by Apple on devices running the iOS operating system through the use of hardware/software exploits

feel free to look it up on the internet
