[MGS 3DS] Critical Save Bug / Customer Support Question

Known issue: Save game corruption

Dear Customer,

If you save your game in "Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D" during the battle with Ocelot while the Circle Pad Pro control mode is active, your save game may become corrupted and possibly won´t load next time you wish to resume the game.

If you foresee that you will be saving during the battle with Ocelot, please always make sure to deactivate the Circle Pad Pro control mode before saving as otherwise it might be impossible to continue the game. In case the above situation has already occurred, you can delete the corrupted save data and start the game from the beginning. However, we are currently preparing a patch that will resolve this issue and if you are willing to wait for this patch, you will be able to once again use your original save data after having applied the patch. We will make an announcement as soon as the patch is available.

We apologize for any experienced inconvenience, and thank you in advance for your continued patience and understanding.

Kind regards,
Your Customer Support Team

We get it, 3DS games can be patched. When are we going to get that DLC like 3 companies promised?

Also, could they really fix the frame issues? I thought that had to do with the way the game was ported, not really something that could be patched, but I could be wrong.

Of course they could. The erratic framerate is because of poor optimization.

My brother has this game, and for him it always kept freezing at a certain part, no matter how many times he loaded it. He did manage to get past ithe said by saving every few seconds until he was past that point. I was hoping that is what they would have fixed. I see other people have freezing issues frequently too.

Ahh ok. I though they had some issue like using too little RAM or something when they ported it.

Which companies would these be?

Nintendo, Capcom and Square Enix.

Capcom said something about making new missions or something for Revaltions.

Nintendo said levels for MK7 and Mario (not too sure about MK7 but I know they said Mario stages quite a bit) not to mention Sakurai said he wanted to make DLC for Uprising.

Square Enix plastered it all over the place with Thearythem.

Still, no DLC, but I dont really mind since I would rather have something they actually put time into rather then over-priced map packs or half-assed expansions.

Too little RAM? When the 3DS has more than the PS2 where this came from (96MB for games vs. 32MB)? :/

Not that more RAM would even make much of a difference in performance...

And Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy did get DLC already.

I ment it was set to use less RAM, I dont know much about the mechanics of porting games and such so thats what I assumed, please enlighten me if you do know ^_^

Theatrhythm did? My mistake, been a while since I checked the eShop.

Set to use less RAM? That...doesn't make any sense.

Oh and Nintendo never promised Mario Kart 7 nor did Samurai promise DLC for Kid Icarus.

What I figured was it was an older game built for an older console with less power, therefore it would be less demanding of the 3DS but since the 3DS wasnt built to run a game like that it ran it in a kind of emulated enviroment, but like I said. I dont know much about ports or anything like that.

Also, Sakurai didnt promise but he did say he wanted to, so it would be nice to atleast get some more news on that.

Capcom never promised DLC for Revelations and they've even mentioned that it wouldn't be possible to do so anyway as they hadn't programmed it to be able to.

You'll need a completely new engine to fix a broken one. It wouldn't come in a patch, but if an eShop version pops up, then that one is very likely to be optimized (assuming they think it's worth optimizing).

My general opinion on games with poor framerates is that the usual culprit is a poor engine. Even with low resources and low specs, some games on the Nintendo DS have managed to output a steady, stable 60FPS without compromising much (or anything at all). Sega All Stars Racing is one very good example, I still couldn't believe that game looks and plays so smooth for something that zips through levels. I think Metroid Prime Hunters is another example of a very good engine, which plays and looks very smooth as well, even with very frantic action going on. Dunno if it hits 60FPS though.

So yeah, poor engine, poor framerate.
