Nintendo has announced through its live webcast, Nintendo Direct, that Animal Crossing 3DS will be released in Japan this fall. The English translation of its Japanese title is "Animal Crossing: Jump Out". Of course, it is very likely that the NA and European titles will be different. They also posted a few new screen shots.

For more details, check out Gematsu.com.

Jump out? what?

Maybe they are adding a jump button.
Probably a nod to 3D and/or StreetPass.
I read that it's something to do with the effects of the 3D (and online maybe?). Sorta like how we say "pop-out" and stuff for the 3DS 3D effect. So "jump out" isn't what it will really be called, most likely.

And I'm mad that it's only coming out in Fall, cause that means I can't play it all summer... :( I'm gonna fail junior year cause of this game.
The good thing is that we'll see even more stuff to make us drool at E3, and that since they've been working on it so long it obviously won't be a rehash of Wild World/City Folk. So that's nice. A totally new, awesome, definitive Animal Crossing. Actually come to think of it a cool name for everywhere (but Japan obviously) would be Animal Forest. IMO.

Oh, and if they didn't take things from the GC one like they did on the DS/Wii, that'd be nice. I've been playing the GC one again since about February, and I notice little things here and there that I'm disappointed that they removed. For example: random soccer/basketballs lying around that can be kicked around with the animals -- the giant wishing well tree thing-- the island (why the heck did they remove that? At least it's back for the 3DS)-- patterns on your door (this is back too I think) -- gyroid outside of your house that could hold/sell things -- the glowing money spot that appeared in a random place every day -- you could walk a little bit more in the water (although obviously swimming trumps that now) -- trees could grow next to cliffs and next to each other, just like in real life -- and the music. There's more, but that's just some things... seriously, if the new one had music like the GC one, that'd be amazing. At least we know it's not rehashed music, since it has a new title theme.Oh, and a youtube video of an awesome composer's music. I'd love this kinda music in the new game! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeAGA-dS3z4&feature=BFa&list=PL955714C6977C34B8

Hmmm, just like with MK7 this may come down to me buying based on how many friends got it. I do like the features but, I'm afraid that I'm going to stop playing for a month and comeback to a sea of weeds. However... It could make a good software for organizing Guild events or tournaments for other games... or just good social fun :P yeah, I'm gonna grab it.

One of my problems with previous versions was that we had separate friendcodes for each game, and it was harder than it needed to be to find someone and a time that's mutual. I think with this game they will probably have the "join game" feature displayed in your friends list when a friend's town gate is open. It's gonna be so much fun for me, always having people pop in and out at all times of the day without making an appointment. I know a lot of people in my friends list are getting this game. (:

I personally hated the n64/gc animal crossing music. In my opinion the music has gotten so much better over the years. The nice piano tune in the previews is what I hope we hear in this game.

(yes, I love spamming this thread)
I guess I can see where you are coming from. A lot of the music from the DS/Wii, I DO like, and I have some fond memories tied in with those tunes. It's just that the original GC music was so unreal, it almost didn't fit with the game. That sounds bad, but sometimes while playing it, I'll think, "weird, this is the hour tune?" But at the same time I just love it so much that I don't really care. In my opinion, the GC music is perfect, while the DS/Wii music can still fit Animal Crossing pretty well.

Still, either way, the new music will be awesome, and possible the best. Maybe. :P
And @pokefloote , man you are right! Of course, if I'm just gonna play a little before going to bed, I won't want people popping in, so you'll still probably have to open your gate/allow the train...but most of the time I can imagine myself starting it up, allowing people in, and just going and doing whatever. I'll be fishing on an island, or going swimming and any one of my friends can just pop in by train! :D I have a couple friends at school getting this, and a few online friends that will too. Plus, I can always add even more. It will be SO easy to connect with people on this one thanks to the 3DS' features, that I wonder if foreign fruit won't really be so "rare." Will the shops still pay 500 Bells per foreign fruit when the majority of 3DS users will be able to easily obtain other fruits? Hm....
(Yes, I think about these things all the time.)

I wonder what they're going to do with controls for this. I personally used the touch screen as little as possible on the DS version, I had friends who used nothing but the touch screen. With the top screen being the 3D one, I guess touch screen controls will be pretty much out of the question??

I asked a guy in gamestation today he said it was coming late July.
A release date hasn't been announced yet, even to stores (which is why all pre-order dates are so vague).
Additionally, Gamestation employees are also hardly the most reliable people, when it comes to actually knowing things about gaming. Kinda like the employees of PC World.

Yeah, there currently isn't a release date at any store, I'm sure I read somewhere it's coming out in JAPAN late 2012..which would realistically mean a 2013 release..which would leave me very impatient and rather gutted :(

I loved the GC Animal Crossing, liked Animal Crossing: WW, really didn't like CF but I think this one is gonna bring enough new features to make Animal Crossing feel fresh and new again.

That's me, too. All weeds, all the time.

I think I'll continue naming my town "Snoop Dogg" for just that reason.

They should make it so you can play with people on CF or WW (Maybe).
Not gonna happen, no way.
Holding back a new game so it can interact with the old ones is daft, this isn't exactly like the pokémon games, it's about fresh starts.

There's no reason they couldn't incorporate one-way interactions. ie Letting you go and visit a town from WW/CF, but not letting them visit you. You'd then only be able to do the things you can normally do in those games. Not that it's going to happen. I'm sure it won't. But it would be possible.

What I'd like to see would be to be able to inspect museum artefacts up close. Instead of just being given a message box with "Mosteranosaurous", have it zoom to a 3D model of the dinosaur that you can pan around with the circle pad. Would be pretty sweet.

And if the game is going to be available as a download title (has this been confirmed yet??) then I'd love to see real interaction with the system. Got post? View it with Letterbox/Swapnote. Put a computer in your room and when you use it, the web browser opens. TV showing video clips from SD card. Turn on the stereo to open 3DS music and choose a track. Have an arcade in the city, in which there's a different machine for every eStore game you have on your system. Use the arcade machines to save your progress and launch said title (taking you back to Animal Crossing when finished). Yes, I basically want Animal Crossing to be the system menu.

Never going to happen. But would be sweet as!

As awesome as it would be, some of those due to the system hardware and how he OS does multitasking, would be impossible. Like the arcade. It would have to run AC, Plus the system menu in the background, and if you HOME out of that, and use the camera or web browser then something is going to crash. But everything else seems plausible.

I have a small idea as to why animal crossing was not announced at all but it may not be all that feesible so dont jump into it to much. Nintendo announced that miverse functionality will be brought to the3ds as well, making social gaming with friends much easier. Animal crossing is centered on lifestylle gameplay including interaction with neighbors and so on. Miiverse and animal crossing would tie into each ofher very well, really making the allready social game even more social. For all we know, your friends could be your neighbors, only their lights stay off when theyare not actively playing the game and on when they are,and could be running around the same world as you when you decide to turn on playing online. Just sma,l theories but i reallyfeel miiverse and animal crossing tie In well

Well, not really. AC could theoretically be passed all the information regarding what's on the system at boot time. When you played a game in the arcade, the system could exit animal crossing, saving state, and return to the system menu with a 'run this app, and when that ends, run animal crossing again' message.

It's certainly doable. It won't happen though! :(

Apparently I missed nothing: http://kotaku.com/5916439/um-animal-crossing-where-are-you

Jeez Louise! The videos at E3 one year ago looked pretty polished.

Maybe, but in this new AC you're the mayor. You couldn't really have multiple mayors all at once.

Hmm makes sense. I wish Nintendo would listen to fans more often. I mean not guys on like Gamespot who don't know shit but smaller ones like these.
