I read a lot of confusing help here from people who haven't heared from "modmii's abstinence wizard".
Looks like at least Xflak knows what it is. :D
Yeah, I'd HOPE [member='Xflak'] would know what it was or something's seriously wrong. :P
Anyway, I had seen the option in ModMii's main menu but didn't actually know what it was until I had to help someone here and looked into it.

I never used it myself either. I just tested Casper a couple of times and helped a little to make it work on the latest wii's.
(Which have new ios revisions)
Some people get a 2 year extended warranty on their wii. So, it's sure worth using it for them.
It's also great to demonstrate the possibilities of a modded wii to people.
The fact we don't need to enter the mac adress on a website every time anymore to create a mailbomb on the day of yeterday only
makes it better.

They updated LetterBomb? or are you talking about something else?
New exploit which ModMii builds, called Wilbrand.

Hey, for some reason I can't get this Virtual Console game to work. It's Super Mario Bros. 3 for the NES, and the file is .wad. Am I supposed to play that with the USB loader? Because it's not working, although Wii games are.

Also, I downloaded an ISO of Mario Kart Wii (I wanted to try it out, as people say it's alright but not amazing), but upon trying to play it, I get a warning about unauthorized use that stops me from playing. It was weird, since it has never happened in the past. But I suppose I can try another torrent.

you have to install the WAD file in order to use it. That can be done with a WAD manager or it can be done in emulated NAND. Also, which USB Loader program are you using? it could depend on that and what cIOS you're using as to why the mario kart game doesn't work.

Right, okay. What would be the easiest Wad manager to use with Homebrew? I think I used one when modding the console with ModMii. Should I put all the files that ModMii downloaded for mii back on an SD along with the WADs I wish to install and go from there?

Just use the Wad Manager supplied with MMM, MMM comes with ModMii.

@Maxternal Sorry I have to correct you again, but piracy isn't supported on GBAtemp. You shouldn't help the n00bish pirates here.

Thank you, MMM worked great for this, I was overthinking things again.

Hi all. I have some NOOB questions so I hope you guys can help me by directing me to the right links or advice. And sorry in advance. I have a launch Wii that is modded at 4.2 U with I believe the method was Bannerbomb. This was years ago. I'm trying to play Sin and Punishment 2 disc and it tries to make me update. So I'm guessing one of my option is to update to modded 4.3 U. Is there an easier method in doing this since my system is already modded? Or will I have to update using the Official update and than redoing the modding process? I know Preloader let's use block game updates. Am I still able to install this with my current Wii settings?

I do have a HDD so I could probably rip the game to it. I remember I use to have a HDDLoader on my Wii that let me do it. Though not sure if I still have it. Probably best to just update anyways. If you have other methods you guys can think of that will let me play, please do tell. Any info is accepted. Thank you.

Priiloader would be my suggestion. I don't see any reason why your setup would have any problems with it. I would suggest using this hacks.ini file to block the updates. You should be able to keep your existing system menu version this way.

Honestly, I'm not sure why either. I was thinking maybe they put up a new version of the disc with new anti stuff? I haven't been updated on Wii related stuff in forever. Thanks for responding though. I will link through that link right now.

I have more to add to my post. I went to the link and downloaded the "hack" file. I don't see a readme so not sure exactly how to use it. I did glance at the comments so maybe I missed how to do it. Do I just drop it into my SD card and run HBC? And when you suggested Priiloader, did you mean to install Priiloader and hacks.ini? Or were you saying either or? I have a 512mb SD card too. Not sure if size is important for a file this small.

Sorry, I guess I wasn't nearly specific enough.
1. You get the latest version of PriiLoader here and put the apps folder from inside the ZIP in the root of your SD card and put the hacks.ini file in the SD:/apps/priiloader/ folder and then run the installer with the HBC to install it.
2. Once it's done installing and has sent you back out to the HBC turn off the Wii and hold down the "reset" button when you are turning it back on again. This will take you to PriiLoader instead of the system menu.
3. Go to the settings and make sure you have the option "use classic hacks.ini" set to ON and hit "save settings" and go back to the main PriiLoader menu (with the B button if I remember right.)
4. Go to "system menu hacks" and enable all the options you want. At least enable blocking disc updates and online updates but I would personally turn on everything that says region free as well. If enable anything else you think you might like. If it you don't like what it does you can always hold down the reset button the next time you turn it on and change them again.

Thanks for being so helpful. I think I have 1 more question/issue that I hope you or whoever can help. I got everything set up with my SD card. I tried installing PriiLoader but got an error about something relating to CIOS36. According to the ReadMe it makes mentioned of HBC being at version 1.0.7 or above. That or I would need to fully patch it. I looked and I'm currently running 1.0.5. I tried updating it but after that it went to a black screen and my Wii's disc drive blinking. Maybe I was suppose to press a certain button or maybe it's a weird bug? I don't know.

Seems I need to do either the patching or trying to update HBC again. Is what I experience with updating HBC common?

wow 1.0.5? you're rather outdated. I'd recommend re-softmodding your wii. You can use modmii or a guide on these forums

Yeah, that might be a good idea. ModMii will actually have you install PriiLoader 236 mod which has the only difference of installing off of cIOS236 instead of IOS36 but it will provide a WAD for cIOS236, too. Newer versions of the HBC don't need either one to install.

I'm not sure I really understood what exactly happened when you tried to update the HBC. Is it that opening the HBC is now just a black screen, the PriiLoader installer is just a black screen, or turning on the Wii is just a black screen? If your HBC still works and didn't update the simplest way is just to put the installer (the boot.elf file) in a folder and put the folder in your /apps/ folder on the SD card and just run it with your previous version of the HBC.

Yeah, I looked up some Youtube videos to see what i was doing wrong. I guess from what i saw I actually had to click "Install". In my head I was thinking that I don't need to Install, I needed to Update. I just needed to sleep I guess ha. Pretty much everything worked like it should. I opened up HBC and got the update notice. After getting the Splash Warning screen, I got to the menu where I should of updated. I clicked "Exit" on both screens and I guess it than went to a Black Screen where it probably should of went back to the system menu. I tried updating about an hour ago, but WiFi isn't being nice to me today cause it kept failing while trying to download the update files.

I will try again later in the day, unless you guys think I should really remod my system? From the looks of it it really just sounds like I just need to update HBC. I don't really use my Wii enough so don't really want to go through all the work to soft mod it. I plan on trying to update HBC once more, unless you feel it's better just to remod it. Of course if the game still doesn't work after I update, I'll def remod.

Okay, if you don't use the Wii much, I can see how there would be a bit more effort involved. If your WiFi keeps giving you problems you could always download the HBC installer on the computer and run it from a folder in your SD card as mentioned in my previous post. If it still can't run from the disc channel them you might need to at least update your IOS's.
1. That would be just be going to the first download page on ModMii and pressing "I" and [enter] to download all active IOS's.
2. If you use DML or a cMIOS to load Gamecube backups you would then enter "M10" to get rid of the MIOS download.
3. enter "D" and it'll download it so you would have everything you need to install.
4. copy everything to the SD card and install it on the Wii with your favorite WAD manager (I suggest Multi-Mod Manager which is MMM on page 2 in ModMii.)
