PROBLEM: Bootmii launches but System Menu and Homebrew channel don't

When I turn on the console, it boots up directly to bootmii as it always have do, but when I try to launch HBC or straight to the System Menu it shows a black screen.

If I remove the SD with bootmii in it, it gets stuck in a black screen.

Bootmii reports I have System menu 4.3U altough I don't know if the problem is because the console was updated using the Disc Channel (not sure because it's my sister's wii) because I remember it was something like 4.1 at the time I did the softmod a year and a half ago.

I do have a NAND backup, but since I have never restored it, not sure if this is the way to go at the current state.

What should I do?

Maybe restore the NAND backup, update to 4.3U and softmod it using Letterbomb?

Any ideas? Thanks

hi people, i have a problem where i manually add each games game id to my USB in the wbfs folder, so that the backup loaders recognize my game, is they an app/software which does it automatically.

Hello everyone! I have a problem playing japanese games on my wii, namely Inazuma eleven strikers and Inazuma eleven strikers 2012 extreme. I put the disc in my wii, it starts to spin and then it stops. I tried to use it with Neogamma and Gecko os, the disc spins, it doesn't stop, but it says this: Error:No DVD Found. I checked the isos on dolphin, they worked perfectly. I burnt them as every other games. Pal and NTSC-U games work perfectly, these are the only NTSC-J games i have tried so far.

Cater,

Do you know what a cIOS is? Tell me if you do.

To start, re-hack your Wii with ModMii, because you probably haven't updated the hacks in a while. And may I ask why you are still using disc loading? USB loading is definitely the way to go. It is faster, easier, safer, and all around better than disc loading.

Still, if you insist on using disc loading, then are these new games that aren't working burned on a different type of disc, or in a different way? (the brand of DVD, speed it was burned at, and whether it is +R -R or RW can all affect the chances of it being read.) You say that you have played other burned games on it, so obviously the disc drive isn't the problem. If you have tried updating all your soft-mods, and made sure you have proper discs, and it still isn't working. then I strongly encourage you to try USB loading. Trust me, you will never turn back once you have tried it.

I softmodded my old wii probably 2 to 3 years ago and bricked it so today im going to go buy a new one to softmod again. I am going to use ModMii and would like to have GX again but I was never really into the sofmodding that much and im not to knowlegable in this area. My question is past all the IOS and cIOS that ModMii is going to install what other ones do i need?

hi guys, when i trying to play mario kart but i get a "Exception (DSI) occurred" error. i have the latest d2x installed. why am i getting this error and why isn't it not playing the game? im on 4.3

Long ago I used to experience the "DSI exception error" (or something like that), but now I don't seem to get it. What I want to know is what causes this and what does it mean?

Thank in advance :)

Hi guys, I'm after a little help please! I successfully modded my wii ages ago with the Zelda hack and have just got a second wii which I have used the Modmii guide for as lots has changed. I have got as far as the nand backup, have installed Bootmii as Boot 2 and have installed the homebrew channel.

However, after I did the nand backup, my Wii won't get past the health and safety screen - I'm a bit worried I have bricked my Wii somehow although I followed everything exactly so shouldn't have!

My Wii was 3.4E and I was followed the guide and questions to update to 4.1.

Please could anyone help me?

Thanks!

P.S. just to add that I have put the Bootmii back on the root of the sd card but the Wii still doesn't get past the health and safety screen - it just goes black.

Hello,

I hope one of the genius of this forum can help me out. I have my Wii set up to autoboot postloader3 and I have postloader3 set to autoboot CFG USBLoader. I play all my Wii games off my USB hard drive (which has two partitions (1st being FAT32 & 2nd being NTFS)) via CFG. I use postloader3 to run HBC apps (like emulators) and Wii menu apps (like mii channels). Now's here the thing I have a nand setup on my FAT32 partition that is loaded with WiiWare and N64 VC Wads (and that's all I know about it. I mean I know I made this nand from my own Wii but I can't remember when or remember what's on it and such) and postloader3 can read this nand just fine. However I'm to understand that N64 VC Wad compatibility isn't 100% when using nand emulation.

It was suggested I try neek2o, a realm I am very unfamiliar with. I'm told neek2o offers near 100% compatibility. My question though is this, how would I go about incorporating neek2o into my current setup? I tried using ModMii but it created files for both an SD card and my hard drive, which confused me as I thought neek2o could operate without an SD card. Secondly then, ModMii created files that would overwrite files I had on my hard drive already. At this point I stopped as I didn't want to mess with anything I already had going on. So can anybody help me out here, :)?

What files would it overwrite? If it will overwrite the bootmii folder, back up your current one to your PC and overwrite the bootmii folder. Bootmii as IOS won't be accessible without copying your backed up bootmii folder back to your SD card!

P.S. neek2o needs an SD card to launch bootmii. To launch bootmii, go into the HBC, press home, and click launch bootmii.

Okay, not sure if this is a Noob question or just something that I'm having an issue with.

I just started modding my wii today and thanks to xflak showing me his Mod mii program I've gotten it up and on the go.

There is however a tiny little snag.

I have three of my games on my usb , only one of them works outright (Mario Galaxy) whereas Super Smash Bros Brawl and LoZ Twilight princess either freeze on videos or don't load at all respectively.

I'm wondering what I can do to fix this, is it an ISO issue possibly, or maybe my settings?

I've heard that COD: BO needs specific stuff to run it, so is this my problem and what would I need to get me on my way to playing my favorite games?

Running CFG Usb Loader and followed the instructions to the letter without any issues.

Any help is again greatly appreciated.

P.S. neek2o needs an SD card to launch bootmii. To launch bootmii, go into the HBC, press home, and click launch bootmii.

The folders/files that would be overwritten for example would be shared1, sys, ticket, and title. See this is where I have more confusion. My understanding of neek2o/sneek/uneek is that they're basically emulated copies of the entire Wii from the system menu to everything else. Everything I do is applied to this emulated copy of the system, that includes saved games, settings, installed WiiWare and VC stuff etc. Well here's the thing I have those four folders (which I understand to be my emulated nand) previously mentioned on the root of my FAT32 partition and they're loaded with WiiWare and N64 VC wads. See whatever ModMii created wanted to overwrite these folders, but I don't think it'll delete my WiiWare/VC stuff but I don't know if whatever it would overwrite could cause any harm.

Now another thing assuming I could just apply this nand and all it's contents to this neek2o/sneek/uneek setup how would that work. I mean say for example I had 300 unique pieces of WiiWare/VC (Not that I do it's just a large number to prove a point) my understanding was the Wii could only display so many items before it reaches it's limit. Well does neek2o/sneek/uneek get around this.

Also one other thing, if you're certain I need an SD card for all this, then what does this statement (coming from the OP of the neek2o thread at the bottom listed under the latest updates) mean: "Overjoy posted nswitch1.0.rar on our google svn. It allows to boot into a uneek2o environment without the need of an sd card."

One last thing, I currently keep all my Wii games in a .iso format, stored in an wbfs folder on the NTFS partition of my hard drive. I assume there is no way I could make my games work with a neek2o/sneek/uneek setup unless I converted every game to wbfs and stored them on a fat32 partition, right?

Just to be clear I understand a fair bit about the Wii scene, but this neek2o stuff is still rather foreign to me, so I appreciate you and everyone else's help.

EDIT - I just wanted to add that I have a launch Wii with bootmii as boot2 installed.

i softed moded years and years ago with bannerbomb etc. have HBC. wii is 3.299. had neogamma r7 rev 14 as a channel and wanted to update to the latest r9 beta 56. erased the old neogamma channel and tried to install the new r9 beta 56 wad using HBC and MMM and it keeps failing. however i do have the app version as well and that works fine which is ok i guess. just easier to have it as a channel.
what do i need to do to get the wad to install?
what other updates would you recommend?
my wii has never been connected to the internet and never had any wii updates since purchased.

well i got my channels. got wad manager 1.7 and found another r9 beta 56 wad and installed both after MMM didn't work. Nonetheless, bye bye MMM. Now its working just fine.

Here's one:

What's the best way to install and manage wads? I'd like to be able to possibly play all the wiiware and vc games. Can I load them off of a USB drive?

If you want to emulate your nand, you can use showmiiwads, which is a program for the pc that manages wads and other stuff.
I use multi mod manager to manage wads in real nand.

In order to play wiiware/vc from usb, you need to emulate the nand. you can do that with neek or use a app like postloader (I think that subl gx and wiiflow can do it too
