Wii U controller had analogue sticks.

IMO the 360 has it's stick and d-pad in the wrong spot. Oh and the little indent in the 360's sticks is to avoid paton issues, other wise they be just the ps2/3. Sony doesn't need to change a 3 about the ps3 controller. Don't fix what isn't broken.
Now, this is brilliantly off-topic, but since the thread has already been utterly derailed, it would be nice if there was a gamepad designed in a modular fashion, similar to Benheck's Access Controller. That way, you could put the controller into DualShock layout for D-Pad games, display and storage (because the symmetrical design is indeed more pretty), and simply swap D-Pad and left stick into Cube/Xbox mode if you play a game that relies heavily on the stick and you are the type of guy that finds it impractical to reach for the stick.
By the way, I have only learned that the middle prong of the N64 controller was a handle long after the 'cube was out and never owned one of these, so I literally never held the N64 controller the proper way. I always gripped the outer handles and reached far with my left thumb to reach the stick and my right middle finger to reach Z. When my age only had a single digit. Which is why I find the distance that the thumb needs to stretch out on a DualShock laughable.

EDIT: Thinking about it, I believe I have seen a controller where the left face could be flipped around in the past.

EDIT2: Found it: Saitek Cyborg Rumble Pad.

I honestly dont mind the circle pad at all.
I think that the controller is going to be heavy and not being able to properly support the controller without using your thumbs would be difficult,
The circle pad is the solution to that problem

I'm not really sure what to think about this...

I don't hate the slide pad, and it's pretty great on the 3DS, but I would've preferred analog sticks, preferably like the 360's controller (Same shape, and positioned the same as well). I don't like having both analog sticks right across from each other, and sticks with thumb groves in them are just the best.

Last time I checked, analog sticks weighed like... nothing, they're not little weights.

And I really doubt it's gonna be THAT heavy. A lot of tablets are quite light, they're just missing a few small pieces that the Wii U controller has (these tablets also have much more advanced hardware as well, most likely).

I've always had the analogue sticks at the bottom, I also like the feeling of symmetry, both of my thumbs would be in the middle. I've never liked how big the Xbox controller felt, it just felt awkward, either that, or my hands are pretty damn small.
Well, who are we to judge your likes and dislikes? I just think it's more anatomically-correct to have the main analog stick right under the thumb rather then to the side. ;) If your hand "got used to it" and that's the only type of a controller you feel comfortable with then hey - there's nothing wrong with that. What I do want to point out though is that Sony's the only company that kept this layout - everybody else, Nintendo, Microsoft, Sega and most third parties that are not trying to emulate the PS3 controller changed their layouts - heck, even some third-party controllers for the PS3 adapted is, as we've seen earlier. :)
I think I only prefer the Playstation controller layout of First person shooters, I was fine with the Gamecube controller layout, because at the time, I didn't play FPS'. xD
