Gaming Pokémon Director Hypes up Sunday Announcement

Oh Masuda, you tease...

At the start of this week you may have seen the news that Pokémon Director Junichi Masuda teased something for Sunday, saying that all would be revealed on Japanese TV show Pokémon Smash. Speculation naturally followed, and Masuda has decided to up the ante with a post on his English-translated Game Freak blog page. His post is below, and this is the official translation.

IMPORTANT NEWS!!
On this coming Sunday, Februrary 26, 2012, from 7:30 A.M,
I, Masuda, will be appearing on TV TOKYO’s Show, “Pokémon Smash!”
Not only that.
And there…
I will be making a VERY important announcement,
so be sure not to miss it!!
Watch it live on TV!
And, for those of you who can’t watch television on live,
I will announce the same information right after the show via twitter!!
Everyone, I hope you all enjoy the show!!

Once again no details are given, and before you all get too excited bear in mind this could just be a new monster, distribution event or something specific to Japan. It's unclear, but judging from the generous usage of exclamation marks Junichi Masuda is excited; we'll see what happens on Sunday.

Since so many of you guys have anticipated 'grey' or even the next pokemon game for the 3DS so I've made this thread here. It can be moved if proven wrong. So lets guess tomorrow's big announcement.

I'm sticking with Pokemon Grey for the DS.

Anyway, I can guarantee it's Gr(a/e)y. They announce a new game 6 months before it's out, and the 2-year renewal cycle would place the game at September 2012... 6 months from now.

I enjoyed the ruby/sapphire pinball. I wouldn't mind one, however the developers were Jupiter for that game. I wouldn't count on Gamefreak making that and anything in the main series is your best bet.

I really hope Grey/Gray is on 3DS, not DS. That would actually get me to buy a 3DS (and many others, I'm sure). Besides, Gold/Silver (while it had Game Boy Color enhancements) was technically a Game Boy game, while Crystal is exclusively Game Boy Color. Who says they can't do the same with Grey/Gray?

@RedJigglyr: Would Junichi Masuda seriously get us all hyped up for some dumb spin-off game? I don't believe he would. This is obviously main-series related.

Okay. That's true.

Well... in that case, it could still be:

-Super Epic Kanto + Hoenn Remake.
There going to be a 3rd version of B/W is very probably, but it doesn't neccesarily need to be that game right now. Just like FireRed/LeafGreen were released before Emerald, it could be that they release the remakes of Hoenn, with maybe (actually kind of unlikely, but I do hope so) also Kanto accessible, since back in the 3rd gen they made a RGB remake.

HG/SS were announced in May, they were released in September.
It's February now, three months before May.

I'd laugh if he announced another spinoff for the Wii or DS.

I'm thinking that if it's a main series game, it'll be a Unova sequel, or a remake of some form. If it's a spinoff, it'll be the next PBR, Mystery Dungeon or Ranger game. It'd be useless to announce Nobunaga's Ambition as it's already been announced and it'd be a waste of time.

Actually wouldn't mind Pokemon Mystery Dungeon introduction to 3DS. I played the shit out of blue rescue team and the timey wimey one. You can sink so many hours into it.
