I think this might be possible because youtube uses .mp4 and .3gp for its mobile videos. It also uses .avi for 3d vids...

Call me a noob all you want. I think its possible even without flash.

EDIT: app. as in those things on the homescreen. If I knew how to move a topic I'd move it...

even i am getting really fed up with people who call everyone a troll, do you even know what trolling actually is?

TROLL:
In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory,[2]extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[4] The noun troll may refer to the provocative message itself, as in: "That was an excellent troll you posted".

I don't think they'd make a Youtube app, they'd almost have to redesign the entire layout for it to be "non-flash".

Yuwah? YouTube has many non-flash interfaces, even in web browsers. For instance, you can opt-in to the pure HTML 5 players that don't use Flash at all. Think about how the iPhone YouTube app works, or those video converters floating around here that download videos directly from YouTube. The YouTube Data API can even return a link directly to the video file. Flash has nothing to do with anything, it is just the most convenient way of playing videos in browsers right now.

Nintendo could very easily make a YouTube app, but they either don't want to or haven't gotten around to it yet. My guess is that nobody (the press, the community and competitors) is putting pressure on them to do so.

Excellent explanation, but I was actually being sarcastic :ha:

I still don't understand why Nintendo wouldn't jump on the idea of Youtube (with the 3D videos popping up everywhere on Youtube and all) in the first place... Do they really think their Nintendo video channel and Nintendo Show 3D can really replace that? I would daresay 3D Youtube would be a serious selling point.

Because they don't own youtube. Why send traffic to GoogleTube when they could make their own version of the site?
I don't know if this is their intention, but it's a possibility.

They'd get more money if there was youtube. Kids would buy the 3DS instead of an iPod Touch because "3D Youtube" would be the greatest thing to them.

I doubt it'll happen, but it could. Sure it's possible, but would you REALLY want to watch YouTube videos on a 3DS screen? The resolution is awful, let alone the small screen.

Considering just how many variations of this thread have been made, people aren't going to realize this is a bad idea until there actually is a youtube app for the 3DS.
And then they'll all make threads about "We want a better youtube app for the 3DS".

Yeah, but following that line of thinking, why does iPhone, Blackberry, and other non-google devices have youtube? You know what I mean?

Like I said previously, it's not a huge deal to me. I'm just puzzled as to why they wouldn't jump on that first thing. The pros outweigh the cons, I think.

Netflix video quality on the 3DS is decent with all things considered. There is that, plus soon-to-come Hulu Plus. One thing to mention is that uploading of videos to YT (even without being able to watch videos) looks to be possible via the Internet browser, as the steps towards it brings up the list of stuff taken with the Camera app, except it only lists pictures right now. They could very well include videos with this, as all the uploading would do is send the data over like it would with a picture. All processing is done server-side anyways. I would say if they allow that, then they might as well allow YT video playback.
