So what ive been seeing a lot lately is people wanting to help with hacking but dont have a deep understanding of how it all works (myself included). Then there the people that do have understanding of how things work but forgot what its like to be a noob and how overwhelming all this information can be at times. This thread http://gbatemp.net/topic/287721-some-hacking-concepts-and-links/ is very helpful for learning but the terminology is big and the information is hard to take in at time for those that learn better by working hands on.

So what ive learned in layman's terms so far(correct me if im wrong). All data is almost always encrypted and signed; That applies to almost any piece of hardware these days. Both use a random generators of hash tags and numbers that have to be broken before you can fake the signing or access the encrypted data, rewrite it and send it back. Until its broken nothing can be done essentially. We all have to wait for a master elite hacker (like geohot) to "break the code" and upload it first. Then theres the groups/teams that race to who can hack and make a profit first but would be way quicker if they all just worked together.

Sorry, Didnt mean to start ranting. Anyway What i would like is to find a way to unify everyone to work together to where we don't necessarily need to wait for someone like geohot or hacking groups/teams to hack it first. Which would require more understanding on both sides: what its like learning complicated things that you have no understanding of VS. Answering the same god dam question that noobs ask all the time.

Geohot is not a "master elite" hacker.

While I admire your sincerity you should understand that most gbatempers are not adept at hacking, or at
dealing with systems on that level. Getting a bunch of people together with basic theoretical knowledge
but no practical experience won't do much in my opinion. I admire the effort though.

Hackers are already quite united and working in unison towards the common goal of exploiting the 3DS.

Have you not heard of 3Dbrew?

By the way, if I were to nominate an "Elite Master Hacker" for the job, I'd probably say something along the lines of Wiigator or Crediar, but hey! That's just me.

That statement is up for argument. He is really a wonderful hacker that has done many things that no one else can seem replicate.

Neither of those are hackers that are up to par enough to crack the 3DS. They are more of developers than anything. It's Team Twiizers that are true hackers that are capable of hacking the 3DS.

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about those fellas. Thanks for reminding me. ;)

Even for me it's hard to describe, because the statement is both true and false although the statement does use chilidish wording to concieve the image of Geohot.
Geohot could be considered both a "master" and a "hacker" at the same time. Knowing his histroy, he has taken down two advanced pieces of techology, both the PS3 and iPhone that uses this generation security. The knowledge required to perform both tasks included technical knowledge on programming, interactions of systems, flaws of systems, and the architecture put into these systems. He'd also have to recongize the language each system uses as well as translate these languages into another language to understand the system in a simple computer language and not a machiene based language. The real gold in his efforts was finding exploits very hidden in the system, identifing the flaw in the system, testing the flaw in the system..
>if failiure, continue looking for exploit(s) to take control over a spefific section of the system
>if suscess, test flaw in the system to run your own language etc etc

The list could go on, and on. Not really here to debate whether he is or not, but you would have to admire him from his accomplishments as a engineer to understand, and not as a fan or follower of the scene who expects to have things delivered that they don't deserve.

Good job on that post. Not many people say things with a full understanding logic of the concept that is happening.

Team Twiizers were the first to hack the wii. They opened up wii homebrew, cracked the common key, and did SOOOOOOOO much more. Everyone else has used what they learned from TT's efforts to be able to write code. Every exploit for the wii is using TT twilight hack code. They made it all real. They did it first, and everyone else relies on what they have done. If it wasn't for TT then none of the wii homebrew and exploits would ever exist.

TT has even opened up the door for DSi homebrew... but not enough people give a damn about the DSi to come out of the 'woodwork' to further the progress that TT has done.

Thanks, but I think DigitalDeviant said it right. People only obtain basic theoretical knowledge here, which can be used to describe the events being taken place, but only a legit few here have enough talent to work together to pull something off. A slim chance indeed.

People are always spread out. To my knowledge, temp has had some talented people here reverse types of encryption and some are quite knowledgable with programming. Temp is also currently marked number one in terms of "3DS hacking" and is probably the most publically "known" now.

lol I actually didn't know about 3Dbrew. Even 3Dbrew is probably mostly the same hacker/programmers that always do this stuff. What i would like is for anyone that wants to contribute to easily jump in to help and learn regardless of what they know. Just like how geohot opens doors for other hacker/programmers with his seminars and exploits. Like to a lot of my friends im a "hacker" just being able to use/understand all the stuff enough to softmod/jailbreak my wii and iphone; When Im actually more like a "knowledgeable user". My point is if we could "teach a man to fish" instead of giving our fish then they in turn will be able to help others. Thats essentially what the 3DS hacking theories thread is about; People wanting to help but not knowing how or how to even start. But If all things start out as an idea then everything everyone says on there is valid, regardless of if its possible or not.

lol yeah I guess a better choice of words would be an "admirable accomplished hacker". What I really like about him is that hes all about furthering the advancement of the hardware hes working with and Is willing to explore different areas outside his field of knowledge. He doesn't do it for just profit/fame, doesn't hide what hes learned/willing to collaborate with others, and he doesnt hide who he is because I think he feels its our right to be able to do what he does; So theres no need for guilt or hiding.

Well, people here are also lazy.

At least, I am.

You say your lazy yet you've posted about 15,000 times..... ironic. We all have things that where naturally good at because where passionate about them. The hardest part is moving past judgments about ourselves that blocks our full potential of who we really our and can become. Anyway i see lazy as being able to relax despite the constant obligations and "responsibilities" we have in our life. Then through the relaxation we have exploration, then that may lead to discovery.

I meant I'm too lazy to do any sort of 3DS hacking.

Not because I don't think I can, but because I don't want to. I don't want to spend the large time and effort for little personal gain.
And if you don't end up succeeding, that's a whole boatload of time that you'll never get back. This is why I'm not going on an all-out hacking quest.
