Now that this is settled, perhaps we may move on to the subject at hand, AKA, Final Fantasy X HD?

http://www.siliconer...l-fantasy-x-hd/

Seeing that the game is being developed internally by Square's "Best Men", I'd expect bonus content. Otherwise they'd just let an outside studio port the code.
My apologies. Let us discuss!

Sounds like a safe assumption to make. I would really like for this remaster to include the International version's content at least. Anything new would be bonus.
I am not too familiar with the recent FFIII and FFIV remakes for the DS. Both of those had extra content and were developed by third party developers, correct (both by Matrix Software)?

I just want to know why this game isn't getting a 360 release?
I assume it's because FFX was a PS2 title, so remaking it and putting it on PS3 made sense to them.

I can't wait for the release, I remember getting relatively far with the story until I misplaced my memory card with the save when my PS2 died :(

When Nintendo releases a "Remake" of Zelda OOT with nothing new except better graphics, everything's fine. When they release a "Remake" of StarFox with nothing new except better graphics, it's also fine. When Konami releases a "Remake" of Metal Gear Solid 3 with arguable worse graphics, everything's fine... but when Square Enix releases a port of FFX with better graphics, they should be ashamed! How dare they!

There's a difference in remaking an engine because it wouldn't be able to support better graphics otherwise or remaking it because it would be too resource-monging for the platform and "just updating graphics" - apparently FFX did not require re-coding so why bother and waste money when the final effect will be the same?
The MGS HD collection, as I recall, consisted of basic ports, with upscaled resolution and uncompressed original textures.
Everything else you're talking about are from-the-ground-up remakes. Just because the are mainly lacking in new content except for new modes doesn't make them "remasters".
The way the article paints this story renders your analogies irrelevant.

Does Metal Gear Solid ring a bell to yuh? Look at the HD Collection, it's on the 360...

Yeah, refer back to Foxi's post.

That's not the point I was getting at. If people just want "HD" graphics then they shouldn't worry about whether or not the game code itself has been reprogrammed from the ground up, at least in my opinion. If the original engine was capable of supporting better graphics but didn't stretch its wings due to memory constraints then why re-code everything when you can add the re-mastered textures and models and get on with it? That was my point, but I see what you're getting at. ;)

As you may recall, I'm not a big "port" person anyways, I was criticizing the gamer's approach towards petty nomenclature rather then specific games or developers.

Plenty of people voiced their disapproval about OoT3D and SF643D getting nothing of value added, as well as the inferiority of MGS3D to the original. It just so happens that this one remastered version is not on a Nintendo device, but that doesn't mean it is getting more criticism that those mentioned already.

As I mentioned earlier, this is just a personal opinion of mine. At the end of the day, it's the quality of the end product that gamers should be concerned about, not the methods employed to create it. If the game will turn out crap then it will, if it won't then good for us, really. I know it sounds incredibly pragmatic but my stance is that gamers should be most interested in "gaming" and leave the rest for programmers. :)

While I would appreciate a Remake with improved game mechanics and such, I still put "this" on the same "shelf" as "Remakes" which don't really introduce anything new.

Considering most complaints I've heard (or at least I have) with FFX are about plot and characters, it's certainly something a remake can't fix.

Most people enjoyed the battle system and stuff, some consider one of the best turn based systems around. I can't blame 'em, it's pretty fine. A remake would mean probably significant change to a system that everyone enjoyed while keeping a story no one liked.

My best hope would be redone voice acting since it's rather shit. Square Enix have since gotten much better voice acting for Final Fantasy, XIII actually had pretty good voice acting. Story and characters would still have issues but it'll be so much more tolerable with better voice acting.

A side note to all these "Valwin" complaints. No point railing on his shit titles if you think they're shit, report them or, hell, send me a PM. I'll take care of it myself. It's what Mag Staffers are for anyway, I'd have changed the title myself if I stumbled upon it myself eventually. Fact is that I'll see many threads have the entire first or second page be nothing but "VALWIN BOOOO" content than actual content. The news is at least there, let us handle his journalistic integrity. Even better, post news yourself so you can beat him to the punch and your better, professional post gets the spotlight instead of his. We get more discussion on news, less discussion on the person, and you earn yourself some brownie points with people around here. Win win.

EDIT: From some experience, HD remasters can be just as good as a remake. Look at Peace Walker HD. It adds better controls, online functions, and achievements while letting the original content flourish without mediocre controls or button mapping issues. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, or if you can't fix what's broken, don't try.

Oh, and if you wanted a remake, you'd probably get that lovely paradigm system everyone hated for some reason.

As far as going with the remastered method than the remake, I have no problem with that. If they can improve it without having to recode it, then that's fine. Their engine may have already allowed that back in the day, so they can make the transition easy by simply replacing the old assets with newer ones.

I took the liberty of removing the biased opinionated words in the title. Hope that's ok with the mods. I don't think it's necessary or suitable in regards to user submitted news to tack on personal opinion and bias. Feel free to express your opinion, but i'd suggest you keep it out of the news post and title (save it for a subsequent post if you must and keep the original clean and unbiased). For professionalism and all.

I wouldn't necessarily peg this as lackluster, but disappointing. At least given what we were lead to believe. I actually somewhat enjoy the original. Not anywhere near my favorite in the series (which is 6 incidentally) but i'd say it's pretty good. So this will at least be as good as the original but with sharper visuals.

i guess lackluster was too harsh i would have better use disappointing i was in hurry while posting this so i was not able to get a better tittle i try to make one of my own and not use the one from the source so i half ass it with lackluster o well next time il do better :3

i guess people are ok with some cheap Hd texture pack

Foxi4 who say i am ok with OOT 3DS i wanted them to add more shit to it not just port it

Neither would be appropriate.

I do hope they get better voice acting for this, anyone remember the "Laugh out loud" clip? oy...

Putting either lackluster or disappointing in the title or topic would be inappropriate. What i said was that you should remain unbiased and professional when posting news like this. You are free to express an opinion on the matter (lord knows i have and i definitely encourage free speech on personal opinions). But don't do it in the news topic title or the post. Do it in a reply post or something, keep the original clean. That's what i do when i want to say something positive or negative about news.

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
