Hacking Getting Netflix, need to update wii to get access to wii shop

I'm finally getting Netflix and I went to set my wii up on my Dad's TV so he could use netflix. After I set up my internet (because I got new internet since the last time my wii was used) I confirmed the update, forgetting that I never removed my softmod (I haven't even turned this thing on in like over a year so give me a break). Thankfully, no bricking occurred as of yet. That's the situation so far.

What I'm looking to achieve her is:
- remove softmod so the wii is simple to update (for my Dad's simplicity)
- Get access to wii shop
- Download the Netflix Channel.

Help is much appreciated.

Did you softmod your wii with any clue to what you were doing?

There's very little reason why your wii would brick if you did an official update. Just update your wii like normal to 4.3u, go on shop channel, and download the netflix channel. If you want to softmod it again (depending on what you did with your wii, the homebrew channel may be deleted) just use letterbomb.

When I softmodded it I entirely new what I was doing, but I haven't done anything with the wii in a year so I don't remember anything just what I've read of random sites in the past half an hour.

When I try to update officially I get an error, more specifically error 32004.

Oh you don't need to remove the softmod to get access to the Shop channel. You can just download the Wii Shopping Channel wad through NUS Downloader and install it that way. Once you have the channel, you can just download Netflix from there.

Strange, what you can do is get Modmii for windows. Download updated IOS (including 80, would not recommend to download newest 70), download 4.3u system menu, and download newest wii shop channel. You can then use Multimod Manager from the homebrew channel to install of it and you should be set. If you don't have Multi Mod manager, you can get it from filetrip.net.

When you softmodded your wii, did you block online updates?

So I download the most recent version for the shopping channel, then save the wad to my SD card?

I totally forgot how to install WADs I know you use a program I just don't know which one >_>

So I got the .wad and installed it but when I open it (the channel) I get Error #002 with a blue screen and white text. I didn't do anything to try to fix it because I fear of ****ing **** up.

Got it worked. Had to install IOS56.

Why would you tell him to update? There is no point in going past 4.1. He is just going to lose Priiloader. You are making a simple process much more difficult.

And for your information, it takes the logic of a 12 year old to understand the wii. The process is not difficult to begin with or end with. Sure it may be more difficult just like 2 cents is more than 1 cent. In the end, it's not difficult at all.

I forgot to mention IOS56, but that doesn't matter since that adds a step to both processes. It's pretty likely that he has Priiloader since just about ever softmod guide includes it. He never said he wanted it gone. You didn't say it either.

The issue is resolved, so there is no point in continuing this conversation.
