But doesn’t the appetite for 3DS pose a danger to Vita? Apparently not.
“There are two distinct markets,” Ryan added.
“The quality, the immersiveness, the richness of the experience that we believe we are going to offer on Vita, way exceeds anything that we believe to be available on any smartphone.”

...he didn't even answer the question.
because if he answered the question instead dodging it like all companies do, this thread would be all sony omg u suxxxx instead of actually liking them for a change.

So what market DOES the Vita "Appeal" to?

(If you say Hardcore......)

over price apple like people market ?

over priced apple like people market? Umm... at $ 250 which was exactly what the 3DS was sold for at launch? Hah...

I think the Vita looks great as a system, and I'd guess it appeals to the same market as the PSP; The "I want it all"-ers and the "Nintendo is for kids"-guys.
I have a 3DS, and enjoy it a lot! At the moment, I'm sadly not that interested in any games for the Vita. or else I'd surely want one! By christmas I'm sure there'll be something for me ( meaning I'll want one by then ).

WHY DOES NINTENDO AND SONY THINK THIER FIGHTING SMARTPHONES!! Sorry for.caps and all but seriously. They pose more of a threat to each other then google or apple. Ones made for gaming and the other includes games. If they keep dicking around try to beat something that couldn't give less of a shit about them their going to fuck up.

Actually, I don't think that ninty and sony think they're fighting smartphones. I think they say such comments as a reply to apple's (rather profound) statements that they are the leaders in handheld gaming.
I mean, they make sure for the "casual" person that they're two different markets. (Which this sony rep actually say)

Because the Smartphone market is in direct competition with the dedicated portable console market...many people find it easier to have a device which isn't just for gaming, and it's an added bonus that most of the games cost a lot less for smartphones than the 3DS/Vita. It's sad but true that the following really does explain a lot -

Nintendo copy Sony. Look at the 3DS, it has one analog nub like the PSP.

The above point is banal and idiotic. Just like suggesting that Sony tablet is copying the DS design. In which case than Nintendo have copied the laptop industry and Miyamoto should be burnt at the stake.

Actually the clam shell design is way older then the DS, Nintendo first used it with the Game and Watch series back in the early 80's.

Kind of even looks like a DS if you check out the pictures.

Edit: Even older then I thought, the first one appeared in 1980 so they where a couple of years old the first time I seen them :( (I thought it was something new)

( What I was implying (Or at least tried to, but I think I expressed it badly) is the clamshell design (and numerous other designs and features) is part and parcel of the electronics industry. Critacising one company for utilizing it as copying is ridiculous.
