Activision has purchased blackops2.com, suggesting that a sequel to Call of Duty: Black Ops could be in the works. The publisher previously purchased domains up to Black Ops 6, with 2 being noticeably absent from the list, but that domain has now joined Activision's collection.

According to a report by Fusible, the domain is owned by MarkMonitor, an "internet brand protection company" that "caters to over half the Fortune 100, of which Activision is a client." The domain's WhoIs data shows that it was last updated on January 6th.

This could be as simple as Activision protecting its copyright by grabbing the domain early, but considering that Black Ops sold over 14 million copies, a sequel is certainly not out of the question. A recent job listing suggests that a Call of Duty game is in active development, though we don't know if it will be Black Ops 2 or something different entirely.

Black Ops 2 can only be considered a rumor for now, but we've reached out to Activision and will update with any comment we receive.

Oh boy, here it goes again ;_;

Why is this bad? Black Ops was good.

For a CoD game it had a good enough story. It has an interesting time period and even enjoys sprinkling some good ol' fun with a rather expansive Zombies mode as well as Easter Eggs like Dead Ops Arcade and stuff like that. Modern Warfare 3 is just... Modern Warfare 2.

Why change a winning formula? Seriously, can't stress this enough. Haters gonna hate, but I don't give a fuck, as long as they fix the hit detection and remove some stupid/broken perks, fine, do it.

Sounds to me like they are just catching up getting the missing one.
Tho it wouldn't suprise me if there was another one to continue the endless stream of cod games.

just beasuse
the domain has been bought
the game may still not be in development
it like the same the same thing as
squre buying the
finalfantasyxiii-3.com domain

Publisher and companies buy domain
so they have it if needed, so they will not need to buy it off someone
and so
the same thing that append with EA and the SSX.com domain name (see here
will not the happpen with them

You know what? Black Ops was pretty great. It had the best campaign since 4 (with some memorable characters, moments, and a nice little twist), all the fun of Nazi Zombies with JFK, Nixon, Castro, and McNamara (plus the characters from World At War), great maps, and a huge load of other modes (The betting games were nice, I appreciated the Simulation mode for practice) and secrets.

It's a shame that Modern Warfare 3 couldn't come close to the standard that Treyarch set. If they can knock it out of the park again this year, I will be more than satisfied.

Can't wait. Black Ops was great IMO, I've had some of my best gaming memories with that game, and I still make more every now and then (@[member='Devin'] I want a wager match rematch... oh wait :D). If they improve the perks and add some new guns/equipment I'll be happy. I thought MW3 was kinda weak, it's good but the map design was decent at best, and just sorta felt like MW2 again.

every company needs to make a game every year and we discussed and many agreed... eg when square announced ff after every 1 or 2 years. zelda comes out every year including mario and many other good games. AC comes to mind along with need for speed (although the later has bored me and so is the former one BEGINNING to do so)

It's not in development. They finished it and released it for the first time in 2010. It just needs some new textures and it'll be on shelves in no time.

So your pessimistic and negative about almost everything else then you compliment BLACK OPS. I don't understand anything anymore.

nice, i loved black ops but have found every single other cod game i've played to be kinda meh so here's hoping...

10 years from now.

COD MW: 90 and COD BO 84 along with COD Granny warfare 6 bundled with COD kindergarten shooting 3.

Haters gonna hate.
Modern Warfare already ended.
Makarov got killed. There is no story to continue with.
There will just be another guy, Named Price .

I have no idea who that is.
I never played COD and will not start playing it either.
(with exception for the KFC bucket achievement on the 360)
