Hi, hoping someone can help me figure out what's actually wrong here.
On my modded Wii U, any title launched normally through the vWii Menu hangs on a black screen indefinitely and never loads. This affects Wii Channels, the Homebrew Channel, etc.
What I've tried so far:
- Ran vWii Decaffeinator in Aggressive mode, then completed a full official System Update afterward.
- Reinstalled the Homebrew Channel afterward via the vWii Compat Installer (Aroma-side). It now shows correctly on the Wii Menu.
- Clicking the Homebrew Channel icon from the actual Wii Menu still hangs/never loads.
- However, launching Homebrew Channel directly through Aroma's own boot menu works perfectly (loads and functions normally).
- So the problem seems specific to launching titles the normal way, through the vWii System Menu — not to the titles or IOS themselves, since a freshly-installed title runs fine through a different launch path.
SysCheck HDE v2.4.0 report:
- Runs on vIOS58 (rev 6432), Region NTSC-U, System Menu 4.3U (v609)
- 39 titles found, 31 IOS found, 0 stubs
- All IOS show "No Patches" except IOS58 (USB 2.0, which I believe is stock on vWii)
- SysCheck reports "Homebrew Channel is not installed" despite it being visibly present and launchable via Aroma, not sure why.
Any help figuring out what's actually going on, or a similar recovery tool, would be massively appreciated. Happy to provide anything that would help, just let me know what's useful.
