Gaming final fantasy remake- what should be added and taken away

so, we all have heard the rumour of a final fantasy 7 remake on the 3DS, but as any good remake has proven, some things need to be added and some things need to be taken away to make it good, be it, graphics, story elements, characters, weapons, skills and such, so my question is, what do you think should be added and taken away to make a good final fantasy 7 remake?

in my opinion, i would like to see a new battle format. don't get me wrong, i do enjoy turned based, but a lot of jrpg's now a days are going towards a more direct form of combat, example being final fantasy 14. i enjoy this form of combat, farm more than turned based, and i feel that adding this form of combat to our beloved game would add a deeper feel of being in the game, instead of just being the player.

a graphical update is a must have for the remake. seeing the world using all of the graphic power of the 3DS would me epic! it would also help paint a more vivid image of backgrounds, and cities and such.

finally i want a little bit of extra story. i was thinking that square could add the plot to final fantasy 7 as an unlockable at the end of the game.

anyway thats all i want to see in the possible remake, so now i would like to hear what you guys think?

I feel like any remake would just ruin a classic game. It should be left alone imo.

If they did remake it, I would just like better graphics, voice acting, and of course proper grammar and spelling this time around. A secret extended ending would be okay too. They could make it about the 2 years in between FF7 and Advent Children.

If you change the battle style of FF7 that would practically ruin the whole game.
FF7's battle system should just be left alone,it is one the things that make FF7 an excelent game.

Back to topic,I think it would be good to add more items and equipment.
Also a new place and maybe added ending plus a new harder optional boss would be really good.

I do not want to see a remake of any Final Fantasy game where all the females wear 50% less clothing, but it sadly will probably happen if the history is any indication.

3 of those are needed for any story to happen and those 3 aren't dressed in such a manner. Garnet, Ashe, and Aeirth (how ever you spell it). Pretty much not the picture to use but I get the point, it however isn't just the latest entries 4, and 6 had some pretty under dressed gals as well my friend.

On topic though they need to rewrite some of the stories throwing out the old translations and way of wording things. It has always been a problem and isn't helped when games like 7, 8, 10, 13 aren't written very well in the first place.

I didn't mean 3D as in nintendo 3ds' 3D. I meant it as in CG-kind of 3D graphics.

But it's not like you can't convert those animations into a format that the 3ds can read

Well.. I, for one, would enjoy a remake of FF7. The original is still one of my top 5 favorite games, and I think a remake would be an awesome way to play it all over again. Obviously, graphic enhancements would be a big plus. Voice acting would be amazing. They could throw in some new content as well, like new side quests or cutscenes. All in all, FF7 doesn't need a remake, since it's a wonderful game already.. but I wouldn't mind playing a remake!

I don't think they'll remake FFVII for the 3DS, but if they did, changing game mechanics would cause an uproar (in my house alone). If they changed the battle system, I wouldn't buy it at all. IMO the only thing that should be touched in a remake of such a classic are graphics and sound – the latter shouldn't be changed too much, though. Additional content is also welcome, like extra side-quests, bonus material, etc.

I think FFVII is Square's wildcard; the remake they throw out when everyone is sick of their remakes. When they do remake it, they know they'll have to remake it really well and I think they'll only do that for a high definition console. In fact, I think a remake and release for PS3, XBOX360 and Wii-U is much more likely.

I never finished the game. I played it for the first time a year ago and I really didn't like it that much. The graphics were just too horrific. Sometimes I couldn't even tell where i was going. I prefer FFVI over FFVII any day. Kefka > Sephiroth. If they make a remake, they need to make it just like the zelda 64 remake. This game is so ingrained into people's minds that you can't change very much of it. You can add a few little bits here and there that don't effect anything important to the story or gameplay. Menus can be redone, cleaned up, or made simpler. Graphics need to be redone but everything must closely resemble the style of FFVII. Gameplay must remain exactly the same or else people will whine about it. If there are any major changes it should be in some kind of bonus mode after beating the game much like the zelda remake.

Go look up Yoshitaka Amano's concept art for Maria (FF2) sometime. This isn't a recent trend.

I really would rather see Dissidia ported or remade. But I think they should just redo the graphics and add some voice-overs and all.

The potential of Final Fantasy 7, 8, or 9 on the 3DS would be AMAZING.

Up until Final Fantasy 10, Final Fantasies featured 2D background images. FF7, 8, and 9 may have had 3D character/monster models, but everything else was 2D. Imagine those same memorable background images/textures redone in higher deatial, and then in 3D? I mean did you play Super Mario 3D Land and flip through the picture book to gaze at those pop-out images? Well I'm thinking the exact same thing but to accent images of buildings and other background effects.

When most people think of FF7 remake, they think of a PS3 remake, or Crisis Core, when I think of it, I'm thinking of re-done 3D models on 2D background. Normally that just sounds like lazy game design to some people, but thinking about the same-old-same-old in higher detail is already nice sounding, and then saying it will be in 3D gives it so much more potential.

And of course one would expect graphical bumps such as improved charater models and effects to keep it from looking so blocky but thats a given. I think 2D stuff in 3D is just as important on the 3DS as 3D stuff.

We are looking at a japanese only release.

Just so you know, Games like that with fanservice that gets released outside japan usually gets censored with more clothing etc. *Looks at my Yu-Gi-Oh cards* FUUUUU.
