Hacking How do you safely remove Wii games from your USB HDD?

Hi, I was wondering what the safest way to remove Wii games from you USB hard drive is. I deleted some games once using Configurable USB Loaders "Delete Game" option, and it stopped some of my other games from working. Is using WBFS managers "Delete Game" option the best way to go? I dont want to delete some games and find out I can't play my others because I did it wrong. Thanks in advance

Plug it into your PC and delete it from there.

I suspect your hard disk is wbfs formatted. Time to upgrade before something really serious happens. Move all your games to another hard disk temporarily, reformat your Wii hard disk to FAT32, and put back your games as .wbfs files. No more problems.

I don't think it's the formatting that's the problem. My drive has been WBFS formatted for 2 years now and it's still running fine.

Lol, that doesn't mean WBFS is a good idea. If anything goes wrong with one game, it could screw up some or all of the others.

Wbfs-formatted drives are generally considered less stable than FAT32 (more prone to errors). Maybe you have just been lucky so far? I would guess it also depends if you do a lot of activity (delete and add games a lot).

@JoostinOnline : I didn't know the conversion could be done on the fly. That's a great app. So really no more excuses if people don't need a second hard disk.

As suggested before use the wbfs2fat script to convert to FAT32 and delete using your PC the games then, that's safe.

Many good games are under 4GB. In fact, as far as I can tell, very few games are over that 4.7GB container, which is obviously lessened, sometimes quite greatly once trimmed.

You just have to use something like Wii Backup Manager to transfer the games over to fat32 and it will split the files that are over 4gb for you and the games will play perfectly fine.

Wii Backup Manager will split them for you, and any loader that you rip the games with will do the same thing. There is no performance loss from it.

It means if you have a game that is 7GB, then you will have a .wbfs file and a .wbf1 file. The first would be 4GB, and the second would be 3GB.

Or from Windows Explorer or from a loader. It doesn't matter now that you have FAT32.

to savely delete from wbfs partitions I would use either WBM or WWT
stay away from old managers, they might still contain the stupid bug that deletes parts of other games

on fat games are stored as *.wbfs files
newer wbfs managers can manage them
they only take the really used space
if thats more than 4GiB the you get two files instead
but unless you look you wont know the difference

wbfs2fat will split big games too

Or you could not be stupid and use FAT32, lol. Why would you use NTFS? That just limits functionality. He's already switching to FAT32, and he won't have to format.
