(MSO) Mayor Carolyn Goodman has passed a proclamation officially declaring January 2, 2012, "deadmau5 Day" in the City of Las Vegas.

This marks the date the electronic music phenomenon will launch his exclusive partnership with Wynn Las Vegas, debuting at XS Nightclub during New Year's Eve weekend and continuing with additional dates at both Encore Beach Club and XS through 2012.
"Throughout the past year we have seen the masses journey to Las Vegas to experience electronic dance artists headlining in our nightclubs," said Jesse Waits, co-owner and managing partner of XS and Tryst nightclubs. "The following for deadmau5 is phenomenal, and I applaud Mayor Goodman for recognizing both his remarkable persona alongside his ability to drive visitor traffic from fans traveling across the globe to experience his live sets."
"Las Vegas is the entertainment capital of the world and deadmau5 represents the cream of the crop in electronic dance music, the hottest genre of music that has made an significant positive financial impact to the city this past year," said Sean Christie, co-owner and managing partner of Encore Beach Club and Surrender Nightclub. "Mayor Goodman's proclamation of 'deadmau5 Day' is an important symbolic acknowledgement of this wildly popular entertainment form that has come to define the best in Las Vegas nightlife."

So? He brings in a ton of revenue for the city of Las Vegas, obviously in our world today that's a little important. Not only that but I'm sure almost NOBODY will remember this other than his fans...maybe. Whats the harm in having a day for someone no one is going to remember? It's like Columbus day, when the fuck is that? NOBODY EVEN KNOWS WITHOUT LOOKING AT A CALENDAR.

The only deadmau5 song that I enjoyed was Ghosts n Stuff. Apart from that, everything else I heard from him was sub-par.

Pretty much this. Ghosts n Stuff is pretty nice, mainly due to the vocals though.

Also, an add-on to my previous comment...This is obviously just to make more and more money. He's not a hero, he's not a musical revolutionary (I don't see a John Lennon day, or an Elvis Presley day, etc.), and he certainly doesn't need his own day, whether or not it's exclusive to Las Vegas.

I didn't compare the two? I said it's similar to the fact that nobody knows when Columbus day is without looking at a calender.

I guarantee you that nobody will randomly scream "IT'S DEADMAU5 DAY!!!! HE'S THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON ALIVE! LETS CALL OFF SCHOOL! WOO". Chances are everyone will forget this was even a day (at least until that day comes around and it's mentioned).
