Helping a friend out with his PSP, I originally set him up with CFW 6.20 B8, and it's been working fine. He tried to install a mod for the browser or a homebrew browser alternative. According to his story, he installed a few files in flash0, he doesn't remember what he installed and can't find the original name. He thinks it might've been Netfront, but I don't think so.

Now, whenever he goes to use the browser listed under "Internet" on the XMB, he gets a black screen and the PSP reboots. it works fine otherwise. Any suggestions?

It sounds like he's tried to flash the Netfront prx into his flash0 which launches the modified browser rather than the standard one. The safest thing for him to do now is to update his base firmware to 6.xx (whatever one you want above 6.20) to reset the error he's made and re-set up PRO for the new base (or downgrade again depending upon the hardware). In future he should use XMB Eboots Launcher 1.2

The only netfront mod I'm aware of is in eboot format, no flash0 required.

What model PSP is it?

PSP3000, 04g Module.

Thanks, will probably wind up doing this.
