P.S. I'm playing the game and it is maybe the most amazing game I've played in the last 10 years.

id say any where from an 8.5 to a 9. it isnt THAT GROUNDBREAKING 10/10, overexaggeration. but 7.5 is kinda low too.

The only thing annoying in this game is the repeating of bosses and the LAME way of swimming. Also camera control is severyly bad sometimes.
But in terms of gameplay/ story this is TOP notch...

My impression on the GameSpot reviewer is that he seems to have no idea as to what he's been playing. Most of his remarks on the game are the exact opposite of what other reviewers have noted. Stating the controls are buggy and don't perform well, and battles becoming a waggle mess is a complete contradiction to what everyone else has to say about the game. Also, funny how he fails to acknowledge the graphics and soundtrack of the game as well. Honestly, it's just a poorly done review in my opinion.

Meh, I stopped caring about reviews, no matter how good or bad they are. Only my opinion matters on whether or not a game is good. (to me of course)

But this is just a shit review all-around.

Why is 7.5 a bad score? Surely on a 10-point scale 7.5 is pretty good; definitely above average. 5 would be average. Ok, it's lower than pretty much every other review (and from what I gather from the review I totally don't agree, based on what I've played) but it's not terrible right?

Oh, and for what it's worth Gamespot also gave Perfect Dark Zero a friggin' NINE. So...y'know. Pinch of salt and all that. :P

Since when is a 5 considered average in anything that's not a percentile? 7.5/10 is basically the definition of average - certainly not what I'd call "good" (in any context).

But why is 7 average? It's higher than 50% of the possible score. It's three points away from a perfect 10. Hell, 7.5 is half a point away from an 8; and people take 8 to be a pretty good score.

I guess peoples' definition of average varies, as does where 'average' lies on a 10-point scale. To me, 5 would be average. It's halfway.

Half way doesn't imply average. A 50% is simply unacceptable in almost any context. Take grades for example - it is generally accepted that a "C" is an average - and almost every grading scale sets C at a 70%. 50% is considered to be a failure

Would you be okay if your car was only half as efficient as it's supposed to be? Would you want a doctor that can only remember half of what he was taught in medschool?

This just in: Other people have differing opinions of a certain game.

I stopped basing my purchases from reviews a long time ago, and just went with renting the game first to see if *I* liked it before I purchased it.

Some games I don't even need to read a review. I pre-ordered skyrim before any reviews were posted, and I love the game. Best game (honestly) That I have ever played in my entire life. Do you know why? Bethesda is a company known for quality games. True, Oblivion is the bastard child of the series, but if you don't compare it to the other TES games, you still have a goddamn good game on your hands.

Same goes for any company. I never played any LoZ game that was complete shit, though there were a few that I didn't quite like, although still very enjoyable. If I still had my Wii, Skyward Sword would be a day one purchase, just like Wind Waker was so many years ago.

So, in essence, do your own damn research. Is the company that created the game known for consistent good releases? Yes? Then it would probably be safe to pick this up day one. No? Rent it, borrow it, get your hands on it to see what *YOU* think before you purchase it. Relying on game reviews is for clueless non-gamers who have at least half a brain to do SOME kind of research into buying a gamer a gift. Reviews are not for true gamers.

7.5 is supposed to be between good and great so its not really a bad score at all.
The controls can indeed be quite bad at times and I get his point about the same pattern in dungeons in all zelda games so I can get the relatively lower score on gamespot.

A 7.5 is not saying the game sucks by any means and no need to attack gamespot just because they have a different opinion than you and most other reviewers have. Be glad that they at least have the courage in this case not to follow the heard and give it a different score.

Since i really anticipated Zelda i expected to be disappointed in some ways, because that is only natural when you have high expectations. But i am still playing the game with some minor disappointments like the ab-sens of a natural flow of time but overall i am a huge fan of it. And because of that i have read almost every review that came out from head to toe and toe to head, just to for fill my Zelda needs. And what i came to realize is that most of them (mainly the haters) use a whole different measure to grade this game. One reviewer stated that the game is basically about going from a to z and right there and then it hit me: i have to promise myself to never read reviews again. Every adventure like game is about that and even Metal Gear is about going from a to z. The 7.5 is a reminder of the fact that the best always get hated on, because every dedicated Zelda fan with his or her own pair of eyes can see that SS is fluent and blends in perfect with the rest of them. I am having flashbacks of WW when playing it and i already feel like MM after i finish this.

I read it, couldn't help it, old habits die hard. Anyways, funny that SS gets hated on for the same reasons they praised WW for.

Zelda is about Zelda and that is why i love it. If Zelda isn't about Zelda sure it is fresh and something different but i don't want something different.
The main things i regret about SS are the new things they added like smaller dungeons and no natural flow of time.

Gamespot gave LOZTTP a 9+ en Windwaker a 9+, OOT got a 10 from them...
Go figure....

I really think they are spot-on with their review!

There are too many 'flaws' in Skyward Sword that fanboys (such as myself) love to overlook...

The controls are not always responding or responding slow.. the lack of options, C-button camera, the 2 hour long intro before u actually start playing, the bomb rolling being forcing u to stand up or use unnatural movements, ... i think these are all mistakes that were better in previous zelda games... Twilight Princess was disappointing because it didn't have much sidequests... WindWaker was disappointing cuz the sidequests were repetitive... Majora's Mask was disappointing because of the lack of dungeons... so isn't it a valid opinion to say that Skward Sword is disappointing for having weak controls? For me, struggling with the controls is really making me enjoy the game a lot less... So yeah... guess we have to wait another 5 years to see if Ocarina Of Time finally gets his match...

So far, my opinion about 3-d zelda's, with SS being the only one i haven't completed 100% yet:

1. OoT - strong points: all weak points: dated graphics,
2. MM - strong poitns: lots of sidequests, emotions, interesting concept weak points: 'only' 3 days, lack of dungeons
3. WW - strong points: real zelda feel, lots of sidequests, weak points: easy and lack of dungeons, repetitive sidequests... sailing becomes tedious
not decided where to place SS yet, either at 4th or 5th place since i haven't completed SS 100% yet
4. SS - strong points: long story, lots to do, awesome graphics weak points: soundtrack not all that, horrible controls, no decent camera adjustment, long intro and lack of options, no day-to-night process
4. TP - strong points: fixed smoother control (gc version, not a fan of the wii version pointing to the screen and all), awesome graphics... weak points: lack of sidequests, too easy, a lot of useless NPC's and even a lot without text....

The MAIN thing about Zelda games is, they are being rushed and pushed for release... They all could be better than Ocarina of Time, if they were given a few more years to develop... But that's not profitable. If MM or WW for example were actually released as how they would be planned, they would be much more awesome. I'm sure the same goes for TP and SS if they were allowed more time... Hell, even Ocarina of Time would have been better if they inplemented the original ideas they had for it...

cos those games don't have motion controls as i said the reviewer doesn't know how to use them so they auto bitch and complain about them. same goes for anyone else i can tell you they work just fine IF you know how to use them. and using them cheap japenese knock off/clone motionplus/remotes won't help you either there's a GOOD reason their so CHEAP!. :P
