They made an expansion to the 3DS, an extra analog stick with external L and R buttons all powered by an AAA battery for around $20 - $25.

That's what this entire thread is about.
How they should have just added that all to the original.
that's exactly what they did.
add a second analog stick to the 3DS.

I happen to agree that the 3DS doesn't need a new circle pad. It has a touch screen. Plus, I'm fine with using another button to use the circle pad to control a camera.

i completely agree! i mean sure it would have been nice if it had it from the start, but in all honesty i dont believe for a second that if it did have it from the start that it would have sold any better.

Personally I think it should look like this.

Yup nice phone...bit old fashioned with all the buttons though...

WAIT! It is'nt a phone? So you can't make phonecalls with it?

What's the point of this thing then? Did SONY forget that function?
One word: OVERKILL

I like this quick design I made. It's a 3DS with an extra circle pad in case you slide off the first one. Hopefully Nintendo looks at this.

I'm sorry but are all of you nintendo fanboys or something? Everytime people compare the psvita to the 3ds they're always like herp derp it's gunna fail like the psp blah blah. The psp got hacked. Also, the 3g is optional not mandatory. Third, the 3ds needs to be larger, much larger. Not only children play 3ds and not everyone has normal sized hands. Video games weren't meant to be portable and if they are don't people carry backpacks or purses? and another analog stick would be pointless because of the touch screen and gyro

I guess I'm the only one who thinks this... but I think the 3DS is perfect how it is, and doesn't need any unnecessary add-ons.

I like the model, it feels good, I like how the buttons and analog nub feels. However I can't help but feel the D-pad is such an uncomfortable position. When I put my hand on it, it feels a bit cramp there. It feels like I'm repeating what I said on Tempcast Live.

That second analog stick addon not only makes your 3DS ugly, but why in the world would you need it? I can't think of any use to it.

Also, just because the GBA and DS got a redesign doesn't mean the 3DS will. The GBA and DS got one because no offense, but the first ones were far from perfect and needed a lot of improvement. If the 3DS is fine like it is, there is no need to remake it.
