I've got a friend that works at GameStop and he just told me that his store already got their copies of Skyward Sword so... I dunno what to think xD.

how close is this friend? ive never heard of games being sent out this early but if its true..oh man. im getting to excited at a chance of this thing leaking i need a new hobby lol.

Known him since 10th grade (so six years). I doubt he'd lie to me about something like this. I still don't think anyone's going to leak it before the Friday leading into the fated Sunday though.

im hoping the EU one would get leaked earlier instead, which,e ven if its just a couple days early would mean it'll be out like the 15th-16th. beats the 18 or 20th no matter what lol.

I am almost certain the PAL version will leak first considering that it comes out 2 days earlier, and PAL versions of games tend to leak a lot earlier than US or JAP versions. For example, Disney Universe came out in Europe 3 days after the it did in the US, but the PAL version was still leaked first an entire week before its official release date. I have been saying for a while that a week or two for a game with this much hype out the EU would not be overly surprising, and for some reason games tend to leak on Saturdays (no quantitative evidence, simply a trend I have noticed), thus my guess of the 5th.

As to the AP speculation, we haven't seen any new AP in Nintendo games for a while, and what little we have seen can be seen as flaws in the loaders more so than direct anti-piracy measures. I think Nintendo has more or less given up on stopping piracy on the Wii, people have been able to come up with workarounds faster than Nintendo can prevent them. Now that the homebrew channel supports the whole AHBPROT thing, the current apps will always work as long as the HBC can be installed, and TT has a store of exploits they can use, and Nintendo knows it. On the other hand, seeing system menu 5.0 come out in the next couple weeks and be required for SS is possible, but I sort of doubt it, and even if it does there will be ways around it in no time.

I haven't noticed that trend myself, but you're probably right when you state that the PAL version will be dumped before the US release. Unfortunately, damn near everyone (especially the 13-16 year old kids that just hack their Wii because it's "cool") has at least 1 problem running PAL versions of games for some reason, so once the PAL version does get dumped, these forums will become a cesspool of sniveling, whining, spoiled brats that can't get their pirated game to work. Headaches everywhere, I can already feel them.

so get rid of the headaches by staying away from the forums and enjoying your early (hopefully) copy of SS :)

This. Unfortunately, it's a normal part of early releases, and these spoiled kids will complain even if they are "getting the game for free". In my opinion, they should have no right to complain, but it won't stop them from doing so.

I love the Zelda series so much that if it does come with piracy protection and it delays my playing of the game, I'm gotta use my pre-ordered Limited Edition copy and update my Wii. JUST for this game. Nuts I know. :P But I've virtually finished all the games I've been yearning to play, and really this will be the last time I will play on Wii.

I kinda hope the NTSC version is the one that gets leaked... mostly because I want my save to be compatible w/ the actual disk when I get that in. And I heard that they're getting different translations - I'd rather know the US names for everything just so I don't get confused when discussing the game :P

I don't understand how anybody ever has problems playing backups. You don't mess with any of the normal IOSs (those less than 200) except maybe to unstub them and add the trucha bug to the sysmenu IOS. You install CIOS d2x base 56 in 249 and base 57 in 250, and use a decent loader (USBLoader-GX is my loader of choice). Only game I have ever had issues with was Arc Rise Fantasia. It's not hard, I just don't understand. I think the problem is all these people using darkcorp and crap. What people don't understand is you want to use the simplest and least invasive hack; more hacked isn't necessarily better, it fact it is almost always worse.

Plus, most of the newb leeches don't even know that you can still buy a game and play it off USB b/c it is faster.

I'm not even worried about anti piracy. I'm almost 100% sure there will be no anti piracy for Skyward Sword, simply because of the fact that Nintendo already knows that no matter what they do, pirates WILL find a way to play this game. My point is, I'm confident that Nintendo won't write brand new code to block out every single known way of playing backups, especially this far into the Wii's life cycle.

Different translations, huh? I'm not sure how I feel about that, because I know that Nintendo of America likes to censor/alter anything that could even remotely be considered innuendo, and since the relationship between Link and Zelda is supposed to be more intimate, that worries me. Europe doesn't really do that. I'm sure names will stay the same. So just in case Nintendo of America does, in fact, censor/alter it, I'll be picking up the PAL version.

Exactly, but people still can't seem to run PAL versions of games on their U.S. Wii's, the biggest offender being Xenoblade. There were so many kids that were pissed off that they couldn't get that game to work on their Wii, almost like they didn't know that a "Region Free" option, or a "Force PAL/NTSC" option was even available to them.

I know, I love that in many cases USB loaders work better than the original disk. If you want to make your speeds even faster, try using an SSD, or a more affordable alternative, one of the hybrid Seagate Momentus XT drives (link). With the hybrid drive, the ISO will almost always fit entirely in the SSD portion allowing for SSD speed access, but with HDD capacity and cost.

I haven't heard anything about a different English translation for the EU version. I think you are being confused by the fact that if you translate one of the other languages, like German, into English you get something different from the official English version.

DUH skidrow doesnt do wii games ....

I know, this is the reason why I found it fishy, when I read about it here. So I went and investigated on it and posted this to prevent anyone from trying it out in the first place ;)

The last game i anticipated this bad was Metroid Other M, which turned out to be a huge disappointment.

You know what's sad? There were like 7 Wii games preed since I went to bed, and it gave me a glimmer of hope until I read through the list. It is going to be a long < 3 weeks.

The only way to get through them is to dust of that MGS collection or sleep through it.

I made an account just to join in on the conversation. Normally I just lurk forums like these.....But according to Dathboc (the Twitter handle of the Executive Editor for Zelda Informer) there is a leak of the ISO. He tweeted that he was disappointed in the leak and yadda yadda. Someone asked for a source and he denied them....I tweeted back to him saying that there has been no leak and that everything out there right now is fake, and he replied "Of course most of them are fake, however there is an authentic one amongst them". If what he's saying is true then there is a real one out there, we just haven't found it. That or he just thinks there is an authentic one and doesn't know what he's talking about...but there is no way he will supply any more information on it.

Partly blame Yoshio Sakamoto on that one for his nonsensical story telling and adding/changing things at random.
He was making the guys at Team Ninja go nuts. :creep:

Sounds to me like he doesn't know what he's talking about. How in the world would he know an authentic one from a fake one if he didn't download and try it? Probably just referring to the fake skidrow one floating around.

Here's the link to his twitter for anyone that's curious:

Yeah that's what I'm leaning towards too. Just wanted to post a glimmer of hope.

Actually, there are ways to figure out if Wii torrents are fake without downloading them. If it is an ISO, if it isn't the correct size it is almost certainly fake (not 100%, it could be an ISO containing RARs containing an ISO, but that is really stupid). If it is an archive of some sort you can use a torrent client with sequential chunk downloading to download the first pieces and check all the file headers, and the beginning of the ISO to see if it is actually the correct game. It is still possible to fake this, but harder, and most idiots who post fake torrents don't do it. If you really want to verify that something is real, download like the first 10%, extract a file from the ISO (a little tricky) like a text file or a movie and check that it is actually for the desired game (note that at this point, it is simpler to just download the ISO and check).

As to the possibility that it has been leaked already, I sort of doubt it as I would expect the torrent to have been posted here or on that one forum where everybody posts Wii ISOs, but it is possible (especially if it is on a private tracker).

Edit:
His original post was made 2 days ago, we would have heard something by now.
