just wanna ask if there's any real difference, besides case redesign, on new european wii's. From what I've read, they'll have the same OFW and internals, so in theory they can be hacked just like any Wii right now. But has anyone confirmed it yet?

The family edition ones? They don't have gamecube compatibility (due to the lack of gamecube ports on the top), but other than that, I think that they can be hacked like any other wii. They obviously wont be able to play backups from burned discs, but USB loading is far better anyway.

You may want to wait for another member to confirm that they are hackable, though, as I do not know for certain.

Yes, those ones.
Running GC backups was something I'd like to be able to. From what've read, it's only possible on wii's capable of reading burned discs, which isn't the case on these latest models. Anyways, I'd prefer to run them from usb. Don't know about the state of the art on wii hacking but think the solutions out there aren't the best ones (talking about emulating GCN on wii).

My indecision is: if there's a way to run GCN and Wii backups from usb, I'd buy a GCN compatible Wii (last ones still on shelves). If not, then I'll be stuck to wii only gameplay (excluding emulators) and, in that case, I wouldn't be in such a hurry for a decision. Maybe wait some time to confirm these family packs hackability and buy it after.

Well, there is a program to load gamecube backups from sd, but it will take more time until you can use it on newer wiis which can't read backup discs.

I just bought a 500GB WD My Passport HDD. is it compatible to soft mod your Wii or did anybody try using it? My wii has 4.2U and I haven't done anything to it yet. And can you still use the HDD as a normal storage device? Thank for anybody who answers noob here.

ok so I just bought xmen Destinies and the wii was asking for an update, it updated and now I have ios Stubs 17 total IOS 3,4,10,11,16,20,30,40,50,51,52,60,70,222,223,249,250. NOW when I go to usb Loader GX to play some games, it tells me I need IOS 222 or ios245-250 I have these IOS files on my laptop.I can still access HBC so I should be able to fix this issue, can anyone shine some light on my dilemma I am running 4.3u.I know I should've never upgraded but this is a darn used wii so anywho please help!!!! thank you for you help in advance!

Download ModMii, start a softmod, and tell it your Wii is a virgin.

u can use modmii to set up sneek+di with dios mios lite (DML), then use
WiiGameConverter_GXS to transfer GC games to your sd card

I used ModMii to install Sneek+DI rev 168 and built a 4.2E emulated Nand but with errors: The following files failed to download properly: cBC-DML.wad: Missing

I assume that file is the Dios Mios Lite.

Ok here's my situation: I have a v4.2U Wii that already has The Homebrew channel and something called WiiFlow USB Loader.
When I go to the homebrew channel and press home on my wiimote the details are 1.0.8 ios61 v21.29 and a button saying "start bootmii" or something (I can't remember). My problem is that the HDD that was used to install these is gone. I have a WD My Passport HDD www.villman.com/Product-Detail/WD_MyPassEss_500GB_USB3 how can I use my own HDD to play? Can anybody point me in the right direction? I also have a inquiry about the compatibility of USB 3.0.

EDIT: my HDD is in NTFS is that tells you anything

Okay, so I have a wii that's softmodded running on 4.3U. Everything's fine and dandy.
But, I want to add netflix to my wii so I can watch my movies on the tv. But when I go to the wii shop channel (first time I've ever gone into there LOL) it says I need to do a system update and such. And something tells me that's probably not the smartest thing to do =p. Erm..I don't really know the extent that I have modded my wii to, I just softmodded it to the point I could use the usb cfg to play my backups. Oh, and there was a hardmod chip in the wii when I bought it, however I think it has become obsolete. I've never used it so I actually have no idea what the chip does, I just know it's there.

So, basically....is there a way for me to get netflix without overriding my softmod, therein losing my ability to play my backups off my usb?

Hi, the hdd *should* work fine because it supports usb 2.0 too, the homebrew channel don't support NTFS so you should make 2 partitions, first FAT32 and second NTFS, you can use easeus partition manager. Oh and I'm sure modmii will help you to install games etc.

I'm on version 4.1E previously hacked with Bannerbomb. I forgot how but I know longer have the Homebrew Channel and was trying to run some games on my WBFS partitioned HDD, problem is the isos corrupt themselves. So I tried to update my cIOS to Rev17 through the USB Loader GX Homebrew App loader (I've got no idea which cIOS I'm on now) and got a black screen. I tried the Rev14 one (I think I'm on that) and alas another black screen. Also when I try to load Bannerbomb again I get a message telling me there's no hackable IOS's on my system, what do I do???

(Sorry if I'm a bit of a n00b, haven't been in the Wii hacking scene for over two years now)
