While I'm thinking about it, I can also heartily recommend buying refurbished systems from the Nintendo Store itself. I've gotten good deals on refurbished 3DS's, Wii U's, and Switch I's. I'm in the US, so not sure what you can get in other regions. A quick glance at the US store showed no refurbished Switch 2's. A quick glance at the EU store showed they are selling a new Switch 2 for 470 Euro's, my Germanese wasn't good enough to figure out how they might describe "refurbished" units auf Deutsch:

Well, folks have been able to get their systems unbanned from used games by providing evidence that they had the games in question (because likely, the games were bought, ripped, returned, and then sold as used). I dunno if Amazon can simply ask Nintendo to unban it, as Nintendo would need proof that everything is in order. So I imagine that if Amazon has a system returned to Nintendo, Nintendo will put it back into circulation unbanned. That is, of course, if the serial numbers match.
as others have mentioned
nitendo support is really bad! i tried unbanning my console through amazon+nitendo but no hope,so i returned my console and went out and bought a new one in a local store

The whole point of a console ban is that it stays banned no matter what if it was rightfully deserved. Otherwise people would go "Oh my console was banned for cheating, modding, or piracy? I'll just claim to support i bought it used to get unbanned" Thus making banning useless.

Were lucky Nintendo supposedly entertains the idea of unbanning you if you genuinely bought a Cart you had no idea that was cloned. Though i guess system logs and the fact that multiple serials are involved could help identify whose telling the truth.

At this rate most retailers will prob have to go back to 2005-2013 and start checking if a console has been banned before taking it in for a return or resell.

If you you can't return one I'd scrap it for parts or find a broke one that has the motherboard intact and swap boards.

Before processing a refund they can just verify the console works properly online and the serial number is a match than something else. Amazon needs to stop issuing refunds so carelessly so scumbags don't get away with it.

At least where I work we're not actually provided with a way to check for usage/online bans, the most we can do is check the serial number matches the box and whether the customer was stupid enough to not wipe it.

Ideally we'd need an online serial number checker similar to Apple:

Edit:

To be clear, I don't work for Amazon.

The fact that other people have been able to get their consoles unbanned seems to suggest otherwise. Like, what did you do when you contacted them? Simply ask? Honestly though, this is probably more on Amazon than it is on Nintendo.

I basically contact nitendo through the amazon site,i provide them pictures(not screenshots but clear pictures) of the serial number and the error message itself,i explained them the situation
now, amazon said that the refund can be made about 14 days or so,who could gurante me that nitendo would reach out to me fast enough or solve me the problem?

they replied me this today ,i understand they want screenshots but how exactly they cant solve my problem?my pictures are
crystal clear??

There isn't one NoE support that serves every country in Europe, and even if you tried to contact NoE directly they'd probably just tell you to contact your local Nintendo customer support, which can vary greatly by country. I've heard our Nordic branch (Bergsala) is pretty craptastic, I can't speak for other European countries, but certainly good support is not a given.

Just return it.

While Nintendo could unban it, I double they would do it since it was purchased through Amazon and Amazon (or the seller) are the ones that need fix this. No point in dragging this, not to mention that it was clearly a used Switch that was obviously used to play Mig games.

I know you already sent it off to return to Amazon (and got a system locally), but, you took pictures of the serial number on both the system and the box, right? Also a picture of the receipt from Amazon from when you made your purchase?

I don't know how it all works by contacting them through Amazon, but if it doesn't seem to be done directly, then maybe the communication dropped your pictures?

It's technically not on the outer boxing itself, but in one of the inner cardboard holders that faces outward where you can see through an opening on the outer box (you can check with your new unit). But if there wasn't one you could see with your other unit, then it certainly was a used system, as the person either put back together incorrectly, or the person purposefully removed the code. Either way, used system when it was listed as new, to which, the seller is at fault, and Amazon should definitely refund you.

Hope you do get your refund and Amazon doesn't try to pull a fast one by sending it back to you saying it's your fault. In the meantime, enjoy your "proper" new system.

I think you will be okay. If they could send you a banned console, it means they didn't do what was needed to check for that this prior time, in which case, they'll likely not do it again.

I'm rooting for ya.

Is that a European thing? In the US, yes, there is a cut-out, but that is so it displays the actual serial number of the actual physical Switch 2. That's been the way I can remember, all the way back to the N64.

For the US, it's a cutout of the outer box, showing the product number on the outside of the cardboard holder for the joycons. The same product number on the Switch 2 itself is tucked under the kickstand. You have to extend the kickstand out to see it.

Amazon doesn't want to waste time and $$ on that. It's more cost effective for them to simply accept the return, if the buyer said there was nothing wrong with it, they can then re-sell it as open box or refurb. In this instance, the buyer should have said it was defective or not working and it should simply go back to Nintendo. Nintendo can then deal with it.

Honestly the best case scenario is for a lot of people to get units Banned out of the box and make sure they all go back to Nintendo. In reality the inconvenience to Nintendo's target audience and Nintendo itself is likely minimal.
