Hitman World of Assassination gets cross-progression support on Nintendo Switch 2

A heavily requested feature since game originally launched in 2021 as Hitman 3, cross-progression finally came to the latest entry in the Hitman series earlier this month. Supporting PlayStation, Xbox, iOS, and Windows across all three major storefronts, it allowed players to move between platforms while retaining key progression and unlocks. Nintendo systems were notably missing from this lineup however, this including both the Nintendo Switch Cloud Version, and the Nintendo Switch 2 Signature Edition.

Initially excluded to give IO Interactive time to fix issues with achievement syncing on Nintendo platforms, they today decided to release the feature as-is, noting that 12 achievements in particular may have to be re-earned if first achieved on the aforementioned versions. These include:
  • The Creative Assassin
  • Top of the Class
  • A New Profile
  • Tools of the Trade
  • Unseen Assassin
  • Stylish Assassin
  • Bullet Train
  • Seven Figures
  • Hawkeye
  • In a League of Their Own
  • Never Knew What Hit Them
  • Silent Sniper
Those happy to play around this problem can expect the following progression to stick with them from platform to platform:
  • Experience
  • Player Level
  • Challenges
  • Location Mastery
  • Unlocks and Inventory
  • IOI Account Rewards
  • Achievements / Trophies
  • Freelancer Mode Progression
  • Campaign Story Progress
Cross progression can be enabled by signing into your IOI account on the platforms you wish to sync, and then enabling it via the IOI account dashboard online. You'll be required to pick one platform as your active account, meaning progress made on others will be made temporarily unavailable. This option can be reverted, giving you access to your previous progress later.

If you've been waiting for this feature to pick the game on up Switch 2, the game is currently 20% off on the eShop, with the sale expected to be live until the 9th of March. Note however that you will need a hefty 53GB of storage for the download.

such a particular feature. why would somebody play a game like this on two different consoles.
I own the game on Xbox, because it was like 5 dollars with all the DLC. It's "Xbox Play Anywhere", but Linux doesn't support Xbox Play Anywhere. :(

are you sure it's not just the Prologue or whatever IOI calls it, with just the first mission? cause $5 for the whole thing sure doesn't sound right (you can't get such a deal not even on Steam)

It's the full game. I bought an Argentina or Turkish key a few years ago, and because their currency is shit, the games were cheap for me. Xbox is the only store that allows this.

People who might have tried the game on Game Pass but want to mainly play it on another platform will probably be the biggest use case for something like this. Second would probably be people who picked it up on the Switch 2 already owning it on another platform for a more portable way to play. It's a little niche, I do get that, but I do see the value.

The PS Vita had cross saves.
It’s been getting more popular again lately. Or at the very least more games I’ve been playing have had it. Inazuma Eleven and Fantasy Life come to mind. It’s a good feature that I hope we do see more of.

Why buy the same game more that once? If you want a PC game being portable get a laptop or a gaming handheld.

That is one small laptop if you can pull it out whenever you feel like gaming and expect comfort while gaming on it. And the cheapest current-gen gaming handheld right now that isn't Nintendo is the OLED Steam Deck at USD $549 (and that's without a Docking Station). Which...has been showing its age for some time now, and has certainly been impacted by the AI bubble's effects on the market.

Try to aim for anything better than the Steam Deck, and it gets expensive enough that you're better off going the extra mile and buying a proper low/mid-range gaming PC instead.

If we're being honest, the Legion Go is as much a laptop as the Steam Deck is. I mean, it doesn't even come with a keyboard like regular laptops. You have to either use a virtual keyboard (like with a smartphone or tablet) or connect a keyboard through bluetooth or USB/dock - same as with the Steam Deck. Only thing that makes it different from a Steam Deck is the kickstand and detachable controller pieces.

Only reason it's considered a laptop in that link is because that's how laptopmedia labels it, likely because they don't have a dedicated handheld (gaming) PC section due to how few brands have them on the market.
