Goodbye 'Fake Skip Ads': Ads Must Be Closed with a Single Interaction.

No more clicking "skip ad" only to be redirected to another application. Decree 342/2025, recently issued by the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, has tightened regulations on online advertising. Accordingly, ads must be closed with a single tap, and for video or animated image ads, the waiting time is limited to a maximum of 5 seconds, aiming to protect the rights and experience of internet users.

Article 17 of the Decree stipulates that the feature and icon for closing ads must ensure that the ad is closed with a single interaction; there should be no fake or indistinguishable ad-closing icons.

There should be no waiting time for static image ads; the maximum waiting time is 5 seconds for ads in the form of a series of moving images or videos.

In addition, icons and instructions must be provided so that users can report advertising content that violates the law and choose to reject, close, or stop viewing inappropriate advertisements.


Anyone using the internet in Vietnam, whether within Vietnamese territory or not (i.e., using VPN or DNS to log in, use the network or services in Vietnam), will benefit from Decree 342/2025.

Jokes aside, I have to wonder as to how many creators get paid for advertisements? Don't think it's that much since they get a cut of the profit from the agency they're working with.

YT has unskippable ads until 10-20 seconds have passed by, so this would be good to have in the West. Then, we wouldn't need to use Adblockers or ReVanced to watch YT.

You used to be able to use a VPN to switch to albania and do the same. But then YT got wise to it.

Even with an adblocker, YT just slows the video starting now, you can also setup pi-hole on a pi and it'll do the same for you.

On Android I use ReVanced and on iOS, an app called PiP or... Just use Brave.

I heard about using a VPN and change to Albania, but never needed to.

Here's a tip for never having ads on youtube. Use a VPN with an endpoint in the Bahamas. For some reason there are no adverts in there.

I actually upgraded my home router just to be able to add rules in order to force all traffic going to youtube to go via an VPN endpoint in the Bahamas.
I was so freaking tired of ads that i spent money and time on this.

No its a f**k you google and your abusive ads.

Firefox, I even use a Raspberry Pi with Pihole, all other ads are mostly blocked, but Youtube videos always has ads that must play for atleast 5 seconds before can skip, at the start and different times in the video. Gonna use Bahamas on VPN for now on, works great.

Pi hole is just a domain sinkhole. It cannot do nothing about the data served by Google servers.

For that you need iptables rules. If you want i can share my rules but your router (or whatever manages your lan to wan connection) needs to be able to use them.

Yep, that works very well too. Using VPN to block ads is like a last resource.

But if you watch YouTube on a TV or web browser that doesn't support the extension, it's a disaster.

Both of those browsers are chromium based, you're better off with firefox, and ublock origin, although you won't get ads on YT, it'll slow the video for you. The only device I have ads on is the native YT app on my iOS phone, and my TV as there is no real solution for TV YT. I could buy a 3rd party router and setup rules to send traffic to a certain destination, but tbf, it's a lot of effort to just not have an ad.

Not sure it's available for Tv's directly. I'd have to root my tv potentially just to watch YT without adds. Unless you mean the iOS device, then tbf, I don't watch YT on my phone, I use the computer fo rhtat where I have ublock origin
