How can I redirect a URL to my self-hosted server (IP address) using an Opal GL.inet travel router?

Another random question from me, this is probably the wrong place to ask, but why not give it a go!

I purchased a Opal GL.inet travel router, its purpose to play around with port forwarding and other cool network stuff.

So! I am trying to get Nintendo Zone server access attempts to instead reach my self-hosted-makeshift Nintendo Zone server, for experimental purposes. Even though these types of routers are "great" for network projects, I can't seem to find much info on how to redirect URLs to my XAMPP server, which *hopefully* will trick my DSi WDB into thinking a Nintendo Zone server is active, thus unhiding the Nintendo Zone app on nearby DSis.

I hope this makes sense, I don't know a lot about this sort of thing. Thanks!!

Thanks, I edited the hosts with my IP and then added the URL after it (the one I want to redirect), and changed the DNS to the IP, but still nothing.

I would setup a basic web server, add a URL to hosts and test it that way via the consoles web browser to make sure at least the DNS side of things are working.

Even on my pfsense firewall things can be finicky.

I half understand what you said there, sorry I don't know a lot about this...
I've setup my XAMPP which just has a very simple html file upon access, do I add the server IP in hosts as well? Do you mean using XAMPP console or something else?

Basically I think using the web browser to load a page from the server via a URL is the easiest way to determine if the DNS side of things is working.

I emailed GL.inet tech support and they got back to me with similar instructions as to the one previously mentioned here, I'll let you know how I go, happy new year!!

Their instructions worked! It was the same as the ones mentioned here, but for some reason it worked now
