I have a OLED switch with a modchip. My current firmware is 19.0.1 and my AMS is 1.8.0. I want to play some games that require a higher firmware. I only play in CFW. Do I need to update both the OFW and CFW or can i just update CFW? Should I update all the way to 21.1.0 or can i go to 20.5.0. Thanks in advance!

There is couple methods to do it, you can either patch the games and stay on lower firmware, or update to 20.5.0 if you want to use tinfoil to install game, as for really no perks of being on 21.1.0

This is exactly where I'm at as well. Thank you for this. My only question is there a thread that you could point us to in order to patch the games so I don't ask duplicate questions, or would it just be better to upgrade to 20.5.0 (I'm guessing that's the last working firmware that gives no issues)

Kinda depend on what you want, higher firmware has lower amount of memory for homebrew, also come down to if you want to use tinfoil shops or not. As for patching you can use switch army knife (SAK)

yes would love to use tinfoil shops, as i noticed theres no current shop in my tinfoil when there was before. Of course i could just use DBI but tin foil is just convenient. So I guess the question is what's the latest firmware to upgrade to, which allows max compatibility and no homebrew breakage?

Also ill check out SAK thanks for this ill do a search in the forums for this

20.5.0 is probably what you are looking for, 21.0.0 did break homebrew and required them to be recompiled.

Thanks for your reply. I guess i should have clarified my post. I always play in emummc. i know how to update my emummc. If i were to update my emummc to 20.5.0, do i need to also update my sysmmc to the same firmware? Should i update one before the other?

You don't have to update sysmmc firmware

Hi, I noticed that the SD card I use in the Switch is fake and maybe this is the cause of all my problems. Do you have an SD card you would recommend? Thanks.

I love my SanDisk Extreme, I'm yet to run into an issue and I've been using my Switch for 2-3 years regularly.

Actually, the proper question to ask would be where to buy an SD card, so you won't buy a fake, as I guess fakes are probably often branded as SanDisk.

also is it possible to transfer animal crossing data using AC moving tool from cfw switch1 to ofw switch 2

i was thinking to install animal crossing on first console's OFW and move save via JKSV first but it is asking for update - and i do not want to update the system now. not sure it is safe already

Last edited by miola,
just install some of my games into one of my switches and when i play it keeps asking me to update the game, anyway to get rid of the message on said games.
