I had ideas for things I wanted to publish to YouTube too but it's over, I don't see it being creatively viable anymore.

Everything has already been done and everything has already been said and yet people still keep creating and audiences keep watching. Just do it.

Being a YouTuber seems like living through constant crunch to pump out new content. You're welcome to try and if you consistently upload good videos people will start noticing you and subscribing but you'll probably decide to find a normal job and do other things in your free time. Depends how determined you are to succeed I guess.

There are some niches that are definitely overcrowded but equally there are other niches that have a dedicated following like DIY tech/hardware hacking where I've seen relatively small channels explode in popularity, so there's definitely still hope for new creators.

Gaming is definitely one of the hardest niches to get into nowadays though, unless you have a gimmick that makes you stand out your videos are the same as all the rest, and since there are so many already established channels, they will tend to get recommended over everything else.

If you want to do gaming content, what I've seen many creators do is start out making other content and then do gaming content on a side channel once they're established. If you're exclusively only interested in making gaming content though, that can make things difficult.
