The Analogue 3D has been delayed yet again

analogue.png

Analogue has announced that they have delayed their previous delay of the shipment date for the Analogue 3D console. The first delay, announced in July, was a result of recent tariff concerns, but this push back was not given a specific reason, citing "unexpected, uncommon" issues. Currently, the new shipping date for the hardware is Q4 2025. When it does eventually launch, the Analogue 3D aims to be an FPGA system that offers 100% compatibility with the Nintendo 64 library, offering Bluetooth controller support and HDMI output.

If a jailbreak leaks to load roms from the SD slot (which it would be suicide for Analogue if that doesn't happen) it won't matter.

Besides ... how do you know?
This is just basic knowledge of how FPGA hardware and flashcarts function.

To be fair, there's only so many hundred games, and they could always test them to make sure they all boot up and play.
Well boot up and play is a big different from runs perfectly. To this day there are no N64 emulators with perfect compatibility.

I received mine today and had to dig into storage to find the only legit cartridge I own Extreme-G. Hopefully the X7 is updated to work soon I know Krikzz is looking into it.

Feels like the pocket all over again in pretty much every way. Still have to wait for promised features. The hardware feels nice and premium and the overclock makes a huge difference at least with Extreme-G.

Magazine staff is slacking, not even a front page post about the Analogue 3D release and the Funtastic limited editions. I was able to grab one earlier, of course they're sold out now.

I'm surprised this hasnt been bumped already yet. The Analogue 3D first batch preorders are shipping I think. Reviews on yt are very good except for one thing - flashcart compatibility is not good. I think this has more to do with the Analogue OS on the console than issues with any flashcart. Krikzz has tweeted that he has one on the way, so if it can be fixed on his end I'm sure he will. But if there's a jailbreak, as there has been with every other Analogue console, it probably won't matter. I'm hoping to get in on the next batch.
Summercart64 apparently works perfectly. As Krikzz mentioned, it seems to be a hardware incompatibility, soldering a resistor fixes it. It's already been fixed in the latest Everdrive firmware but if you don't have a N64 to actually apply said update then you would need to do the resistor fix.

You got one of the Funtastics? That's great! What color did you get? I was in a meeting at work so couldn't attempt it. But I dont think most people realized, the regular black and white consoles restocked today too. And 'regular' price. I just bought a white one.

Grape. It was between that or Fire. I got the email yesterday I think and since they ship right away I had to try to get one. I hate how exclusive Analogue's products are, they're never in stock and you have to wait 1-2 years on a preorder and after a few rounds of preorders they just stop making them. Actually having products in stock to ship right away is unheard of for them.

I'm also getting the 8bitdo 64 in both Grape and Fire but sadly those don't ship until February so until then I just have my 8bitdo Pro 2. I'm kinda short on bluetooth controllers and I don't expect the Switch Pro Controller to work well (though it might)

Edit: Currently, no other controllers than the 2 listed as supported seem to work, you would think that at least 8bitdo controllers would be supported but no, it really is just those 2. Presumably that's something they'll fix, because the OS is so rushed in several key areas currently, even the play time counter that is right in your face doesn't work. So I'm not surprised that creating a UI for button remapping isn't high on their priority list right now.

I would STRONGLY advise NOT buying off these cowboys.

Not only is it FALSE advertised and missing features it said itd have.

Theyve ignored every single email ive sent since it arrived (I was one of the first pre orders).

Yet if you email off a different account (not used for your order), you get a reply, then when you reply regarding its missing advertised features, your IGNORED.

ID GO FOR A MISTER YOURSELF, AS THIS IS A BASIC CORE AND ITS FILTERS ARE RUBBISH AND ADDS CRAP TO YOUR GAME THAT'S NOT MENT TO BE THERE, ITS CLEAN MODE IS WORSE THAN THE ORIGINAL CONSOLE AND LOWER RESOLUTION AND DOESNT FILL SCREEN YET ITS CRAP FILTERS DO (USING SAME SCALE SETTINGS).

ITS OVER PRICED AND ALSO IF YOU WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ITS BUILT IN SAVES, YOUR FORCED TO USE 8BITDO ONLY CONTROLLERS, OTHER WIRELESS CONTROLLERS DEFAULT AS YOUR USING AN ORIGINAL CONTROLLER AND THE IDIOTS NEVER THOUGHT YOUD WANT TO USE IT, NO CUSTOM KEY BINDING OPTIONS EITHER.

Do you need any keyboard recommendations? It looks like your caps lock is stuck on lol.

Anyways as somebody who doesn’t have a 3D and hasn’t been keeping up with it, which features did they advertise and not deliver on? Mostly just curious. Got the Pocket from them a while back and am happy with it, so just surprising to see such outrage over another of their products.

WiFi is bevelled into the case, doesn’t have it enabled, even for updating.

Screenshot functionality and save states are also missing.

They advertised these features in their press kit iirc.

Yeah, the screenshots of Analogue OS show all of that, as well as Xbox controller sync. It's like they had a rich firmware ready to go, and then decided to strip it all down to bare bones before release, for whatever reason.

I didn’t know about the Xbox controller thing, that’s interesting.

They literally bait and switched during delays.

I wanted to use the screenshot function more than anything else, so now mine sat there doing nothing while a hundred variations come out.

Also: there’s no option to exchange the shells to at least update the look of my OG purchase.

No way I’m double dipping.

Was that functionality even working and not mock ups?

I wont be surprised if they ended up prioritising development of the basic N64 FPGA core, considering that even in recent updates they're working on it.

All I see there is screenshots. Granted I don't think screenshots are in the current OS either.

The play time counter *in the freaking UI* doesn't even work. Was it too much work to just comment out that line of code until it's fixed?
The state of the software is kind of sad really. It's functional, just about, but it feels so unfinished. There is basic functionality missing from the OS, such as controller support and remapping. Even with the two wireless controllers they officially support, there is no analog deadzone adjustment so the sticks are way too sensitive. And with Analogue's track record there's no reason to expect updates any time soon. I would actually have preferred if they just waited until the product was ready before selling it... Now it kind of makes sense why all their other consoles have been so delayed.
I also had one random crash where 3DOS stopped responding to input while I was in the menu. Though the image wasn't frozen. After turning the console off, I couldn't power it on again until I pulled the power. Luckily it only happened once.

All that being said, it's nice hardware and I'm glad to own it. But I would have been more glad to own it if they released it a year later feature complete.
I have the controller situation mostly sorted, between two original controllers modded with the 8bitdo N64 modkit, and two limited edition 8bitdo 64 controllers that are in the mail, but still awaiting that much needed deadzone adjustment... The shooting minigames in Zelda OoT were nigh impossible.

They're trying to be like Nintendo I see, making artificial scarcity to claim it's "Limited Edition."

I've never been much of an N64 gamer and while this looks very impressive, their behavior makes me dodge 'em.

@Retrojunkies you're a paid customer and they treat you like garbage... Sad.
