Grand Theft Auto VI has been delayed again, to November 2026

Another delay has come for Grand Theft Auto VI. Originally slated for release sometime in 2025, it was eventually pushed back to May 2026, and now, has been further kicked down the road to its new release date of November 19, 2026. Rockstar Games cites needing some extra time to polish up the game as the reason behind the delay.

Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026.We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.

I can imagine the sigh of relief from the indie devs that's trying to get their game out before 6 drops.
gta isnt a force to stop the gaming world. it just isnt. its got a big fan base but they arent going to stop anything else from being successful. if a better game drops people will play it over gta6. but there isnt a huge list of good games coming out that ive seen. mostly ports, remasters, and sequels of sequels. people who think that gta 6 is this groundbreaking game are just dense people who read things and make up fantasy reality with the fake perceptions they have been given to make them think this false narrative.

ive played all the gtas and none of them really stopped me from buying other games and playing them if they were good games. gta's are games u cant stop and pickup at anytime. not something that u feel obligated to binge and let take over ur life. 20min of shooting someone in the new gta6 and most people shiny new toy feeling will wear off.

but fads are fads and people who claim things like beanie babies being groundbreaking often lose their hype with time. gta has lost its hype with time.

they wont touch the things that could make it incredibly great.

new game wont have house invasions where u can run in random houses and tie people up and rob them. they wont introduce ICE raids or any controversial type scenario that they havent already in the past.

i just dont get why people are so hyped about this game. it makes no sense to me and yes i know years ago gta5 was game of the year and it was the best of its time.

its 2025 and by the time the game releases its almost 2027. people are living in the beanie baby past with gta

Man with all the damn delays the fucking steam version better be releasing at the same time now....

Perhaps they are seeing the allure of console exclusivity is drying up fast.

God if they still are going to be console exclusive at launch that will be the most idiotic thing they will do

Edit: website only shows Xbox and PS. For fucks sake

Rock* has literally never released a PC version the same day as console I wouldn't count on it.

I hope it gets delayed until the """NeXtGeN""" (lol).

I just want it to be good and without major bugs.
I could not care less for the multiplayer part so if it iss as good as GTA5 was (story etc...) R* will have my hard earned money.

I hope this game never comes out. After Rockstar had somehow managed to get rid of the GTA V producer, Leslie Benzies, as well as the A team (the devs that were behind the original apartment heists in GTA Online), GTAO has gone downhill. I can only expect GTA 6 to be as much 0f a waste of time as every update that came out after these awesome people had left :rofl2:

They’re probably delaying it to strip out or at least tone down some of the woke stuff. With such a long dev cycle, studios make assumptions about where the culture and politics will be by release, and sometimes those assumptions age badly. If they don’t adjust, the game risks feeling out of step or pandering too hard in one direction. We’ve already seen what happens when big franchises lean too much into that: Mass Effect Andromeda, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Dragon Age Veilguard, Starfield, all ended up with backlash and disappointment. Rockstar knows the last thing they need is to drop GTA 6 and have it land in that same category. My guess is they’ll aim for a middle ground, kind of like Baldur’s Gate 3, where there’s woke influence some that’s egregious but not enough to ruin the overall experience.

Dan Houser is gone too he was the writer for all of the GTA's the Red Dead games and Bully. Pretty much every Rock* game that was ever made he was the first name you'd see on the credits, and he had nothing to do with 6.

It's why I say pump the brakes on this being the best game evar. There never was a GTA in the first place without Dan Houser.

Last edited by Jayinem,
They are going to time it so it's released within a few months of the next generation of consoles, and six months after the game releases on current gen it'll release on next gen too, when the hype window is still high. So I expect another delay.

Can't honestly say I'm all that stoked for 6 either, because what's it honestly gonna bring to the table at this point? Cyberpunk gave us a helluva sorta Deus Ex GTA. Kingdom Come was a helluva medieval GTA with neat combat.

5 pretty much had everything for a relatively grounded, real city gangster motif save maybe driving physics. So just graphics aside, I really can't think of what I'd even want out of a modern GTA. I'd LOVE a proper, modern Saints Row, but that ship had miserably sunk already.

Considering how GTA fanboys messed with and helped ruin the Saint's Row reboot, I'm inclined by default to see this as schadenfreude. This, is precisely what you deserve, by trying to let rockstar remain uncontested.

GTA isn't even the best crime game out there.

Yakuza series does more with ONE district of ONE city, than the vaunted San Andreas did, with THREE whole cities and connecting territories. With how unrewarding GTA 4 was, compared to the playground that Saint's Row 2 felt like? The Houser brothers can burn for all it matters.

How did the GTA community sabotage the Saint's Row reboot? I tried to do some research, and I found the video done by Flippy. It told its own sad story of Saints Row 2's PC port efforts.

TL;DW: Idolninja (May he rest in peace) went from hobbyist Saints Row 2 modder/fixer to a member of Volition's team. After finally coming across the Saints Row 2 source code, which was being stored on one of CDPROJEKT's servers, he spearheaded an official project to properly port the game to PC.

Idolninja recruited his friend, Minimaul. There are two sides to every story, but the one given in the video states that Minimaul took the money and ran. Idolninja was demoted, and later on, he was diagnosed with a terminal illness. The video states that Idolninja was working on the Saints Row 2 patch until he passed away. He had even more plans for the series, including a Saints Row 1 PC port and the release of the SR2 source code.

It's a sad story. My roommate in college loved SR2, and I came to play it because of him. I know a differently-patched version of SR2 came out on GOG, but I'm not sure how it differed from Idolninja's Gentlemen of the Row patch.

It was more to do with said GTA fanboys harassing the developer and publisher, writing rotten reviews and feedback, calling them a "GTA clone" and almost certainly never having actually played the game. Enough to the point that executives started to adjust their decision making around it. And culminating in the awful story and design decisions in the saints row reboot, which bombed so bad, it killed the company.

Which is a genuine shame. Sure, the sr2 PC port was rough, being outsourced. But SR3 and on were handled by Deep silver itself and even from the beginning, were well optimized, like supporting native multi monitor surround from the start.

So yes, I am going to have sour grapes to see the studio get dissolved because some entitled fans of a rival property, were able to gripe and bitch long enough to make the company release a final, shitty game.

Yeah, I recall Saints Row 2 in particular getting a bad rap, but I found it to be a fun game on its own merits. Saints Row 2 was definitely more inspired by the PS2 GTA trilogy, and it shows in the design choices and overall fun factor.

I feel like my own opinions are a bit poisoned by the reviews of the time for Saints Row 3, but even years later, I feel like, for all its good points, it was definitely a strong departure for the series. The defeat of Daniel Dae Kim's character was a poor choice, plain and simple. It's like when a show writes out a principle character and the ratings fall off a cliff. The gameplay was still fun and SR3 looked and presented itself extremely well, but beyond the gameplay, it still felt like a caricture of itself.

it's a shame because back in the late-2000's, I would have said Volition and Visceral (The Dead Space team) were two studios worth keeping an eye on, but by the mid 2010's, things had gone sideways.

GTA fanbois making a dev team, including execs, make a soulless Pander Row amidst most everyone else doing similar while SR fans crying for the game to go back to its roots? Where is the source for this?

Setting and gameplay in the reboot was fine, but it was more bland than mayo in its tone and that's what murdered it than anything else.
