Emulation Homebrew melonDS for Switch — continuation part 2

Hi all :)
I downloaded MelonDS for Switch yesterday and everything is working great, thanks a lot! Only issue is that whenever I rotate my screen (to have a more DS like experience with the joycons to the side), it messes up my controllers. They still get recocgnised normally by the Home UI, but they won't really work in game. (Joysticks dont do anything anymore, up and down on the DPad are left an right etc)

which version?

Hi!

I really loved this version, thank you so much!

However, there's a bug related to the controls.

I reassigned the shoulder buttons and swapped them with the trigger buttons, but whenever I restart the emulator, the configuration resets. The settings only go back to my custom setup if I open the configuration window again.

Hi , I cannot press ZL to fast forward. Do i have to set something to make it happen ?
My setting is
JIT recompiler - uncheck
Limit framerate - uncheck

My device is OLED, System version is 19.0.1.
MelonDS version is 7.2

hi, enable the jit recompiler. Then, check in the Input settings if you have to press/long press it

oh after enable the jit recompiler and input setting about ZL fast forward. Emu can speed up now , thank you. But it speed it all the time no matter I press ZL or not. any suggest about this ?

After play around inside jit recompiler option , block size number is how much speed of fast forward right ? when I dim from 32 to 4 it slow down little bit.

There is an option called "Hold to fastforward (ZL)", if it's off then you have to press ZL once to toggle fastforwarding on and off, if you have it enable then you have to hold the ZL button.

Don't mess around with the JIT compiler options, they shouldn't matter.

I understand , if I check 'Hold ZL to fastforward' the game should stop speeding right ? and will speed up again when press ZL, but mine doesn't . Game is speed up all the time no matter I press ZL or not.

I tried check and uncheck , press ZL or hold it , game continue speed up.

Yeah, when only active the fastforward. I think it's a bug. Try to delete old file and replace the new one. Try to 7.2, 7,1 or 7.0.
These versions works all pkmn games with zero problem on save files.

Are you playing a hack or the vanilla game? I know some Pokemon romhacks uncap the framerate and speeds the game up by default so it could be that.

Does this also happen in other games? Are you sure your ZL key is working?

The vanilla game of cause , and I found a solution.

The key is check 'Limit Framerate'.

Before that I uncheck this option for speed emu but then everything speed up , cant control anything.
After check Limit framerate , everything back to normal and can press ZL for speed up.

Thanks all of you guy.

i appreciate your work so far. if you need any more stuff to work on, i would like to suggest some things:

any kind of connection capability so we could try pokemon trading
any kind of visual hint when fast forward is on
and some kind of quick save quick load button (that could be configurable, maybe button combos or multiple buttons idk)

thats my personal wish list, anyways, thanks for the work youve put in this so far.

Has anyone had the new melon ds 7.2 fork freeze on boot when loading it up after upgrading to switch firmware 20.5.0?

+ upscaling

that would be awesome

I tried with 20.4.0 and had no problem. ASAP I'll try with 20.5.0 and eventually fix it
Yo bro, i may sound like a broken record but i’d love nintendo wfc so much. I am actually willing to pay for u to implement it asap if ur interested

HI,

I have zelda phantom hourglass and retroachivements says "Unkown game". Do I need to configure somethign appart from usser/pass?

Amazing work on this emulator! A few questions:
1. Is it possible to remap specifically hotkeys? Currently, it's possible to remap inputs, but not which inputs the hotkeys take. For instance, possibly changing the menu hotkey from "ZL + ZR" to "Left Stick Button".
2. Hardcore is available in the emulation settings, but when booting a game, it states that the emulator is unsupported and that hardcore achievements cannot be earned. is this normal?

Are you sure you are using the correct rom? The hash should match with the supported files (you can check which file you should use in the game section on RA site)

1. Yes, I'm planning to remap the hotkey too, maybe in the next nightly
2. Yes, I'm working with RA for hardcore support
