My modded Switch Lite got banned today.

I don't have any pirated content on it; it was only used for modding offline games through LayeredFS [i.e., no "installation" of unsigned software], using cheats for offline games, and dumping/editing saves.

I do not have NSO, and I only connect to Nintendo servers to download updates for my games.

I was using custom DNS [207.246.121.77 and 163.172.141.219] for when I needed to go online with CFW, though my PRODINFO was not blanked.

I do remember accidentally deleting a ticket for an eShop title around 9 months ago, which I think is the likely cause [though I am not 100% sure] despite it not matching banwaves which are 4-6 months apart from my understanding.

I have other modded Switches which means it's not a huge loss, but I'd like to prevent this in the future [without a self-ban], so I have a few questions:

1. Does anyone have an idea as to what else could've caused this?

2. Does Nintendo issue console bans for modding offline, single-player games?

3. Could PRODINFO blanking have prevented this, somehow?

4. I've heard people getting banned for sigpatches/syspatches running in the background, which I have. Is this really a thing, though?

It will also block you from getting your game updates from Nintendo because your ID is missing.

A missing ticket usually isn't much of a deal for Nintendo if it was a legally purchased item.
You can delete games through the official menu.

My bet is the sigpatches as they intervene with Nintendo's security model in order to run pirated games.
Maybe that caused something that Nintendo detected.
Afaik, Nintendo uploads your game tickets to their servers so maybe that triggered something.

I meant blanking my PRODINFO in emuMMC/sysCFW, which shouldn't affect updating games through OFW from what I understand.

The ticket was for YouTube, but I guess they're just itching to ban all modders, lol.

And I was running sigpatches for no reason, so maybe I'll stop that.

LayeredFS = ban. LayeredFS was responsible for the first ban wave. LayeredFS is what got my OG Switch banned years ago.

Update from Nintendo support: It was due to me buying a game some asshole had dumped before. I showed them that it was a used game by sending listing details, invoices, chat logs, etc. and they unbanned me.

Guess used games are emuMMC-only from now on.

Yeah you can be banned if you used a banned dump of a legit game. Which is scary for legit 2nd hand users.

Did you get any information on how they handle this? Given that it's been dumped and possibly shared online, what's stopping it from getting your Switch flagged again for a ban if you pop it in and fire it up again? Did they tell you anything? Just something that popped into my head.

uninstalling a game from data management doesn't remove the ticket. there's no way to remove a ticket like this without mods

maybe a factory reset clears tickets, but from when I got mine there were still tickets from the previous owner after I reset it for myself. maybe I remember wrong though, I guess I could test that out in a bit. I know on 3DS and Wii U the tickets dont get cleared when you factory reset though (personalized tickets may get invalidated, but they are still present in the case of 3DS. for Wii U disc tickets and update tickets stay, I dont remember about personalized eshop tickets)
