Or it was already activated. Sony and the rest are pushing for digital-only.The one I mentioned was like March of this year, so could be that they're easing up.

Someone showed the entire initial setup process and menus.
Why not? They could still simply compile the same version of HOS for two different architectures. No need to reinvent the wheel.I imagine they share a central design, but not nearly close enough where one could swap the OS from Switch 2 into a Switch 1. The GPU alone is of a completely different architecture. Not even PS4 Pro differs from PS4 in that regard.
Yes, as noted before the slim models require a call to Sony to activate/pair the disk drive with the console.I don't know the current state but I bought a PS5 slim last year and an online check was required even though it was the disc-based slim model.

Journaling for an sd card is not a good idea. What other fs would you suggest for N to use? Aside from fat (fat32/exfat) which are the best options for multiple reasons, there's really only ext4 and brtfs with no CoW. The latter 2 not being natively supported on windows is a no go.Probably licensing, the same as exFAT on Switch. Each person who doesn't use a memory card (or exFAT) is money saved for Nintendo because they have to pay the exFAT license per user.
I guess this confirms that the Switch 2 still uses exFAT and not some proprietary encrypted file system.

There's nothing wrong with exFAT, let's just hope it's properly implemented this time around.
We really shouldn't be relying on a decades old file system that isn't even journaled.
Xbox One is an online console so no argument there, but PS4 and Switch were doable offline (whether waiting for a hack or until a game required to update).Hasn't every console in the last 15 years required this?
Why is it not a good idea? The Switch (2) treats SD cards as non removable storage anyway, so I don't see any issue.Journaling for an sd card is not a good idea. sd cards, like all flash memory, have limited writes. Journaling, while increasing the robustness of the file system, will dramatically increase the writes to the sd card shortening its lifespan. Why is it not a good idea? ExFAT is literally designed for SD cards and flash drives.
Given that the Switch 2 appears to be running the same HOS version as the Switch, there is little point in worrying about what firmware it is on. HOS has been examined quite thoroughly and there are no software exploits to be found.Do you guys/gals think that mario kart world or perhaps other game carts will have the 20.0.1 update on them?
If so, im going to leave one of my switch 2's fully un updated and use that cart to update if needed in the future to unlock the sd card slot etc.

It's the old saying. They don't know what they are missing. Just like I don't know what I am missing for not keeping my Switch at 1.0. Probably never will but if it keeps one feeling good having a Switch at 1.0 by all means, that happiness may well be priceless.Nothing ist fully save
Nope, but I bet it is safe for the foreseeable future.Nothing ist fully save
