There's a likely reason why the 'Delete' option isn't available to users, and that being it could be abused to a certain extent. But that's my theory.
Nay, we already got people editing their titles to "censor" their posts. It really goes against an open forum if you wanna edit all your posts or/and delete them.
Maybe an option to "Delete" the post, but that would *vanish" after some time (i.e. become unavailable 10 minutes after the post was made). I can indeed see why some people would want to delete their posts. Happened to me more than a few times, realising that I posted in the wrong thread/forum and then have to report my own post for it to get deleted.
The hard part with that kind of idea is that usually, hiding buttons in web page UI is usually exposed to the user via CSS stylesheets, meaning that it would be editable with Developer Tools to bypass userside and as a result would be a bad idea to implement. A surprising amount of GBAtemp is cutomizeable via CSS injection, and creating a browser plugin/extension to customize it requires little tweaking, and if someone were to make it public, it would make being a Patron kinda pointless for some people.
Tell me if I'm misunderstanding, but you make it sound like it's something really easy to do. Like something you could do by following a youtube tutorial or something (open firefox developper mode, change that var to this et voilà!). Maybe I'm just being naive to think that GBAtemp servers are that easy to hack/tweak/whatever word you want to use, that you could become Patreon without paying, delete your comment even if you are not supposed to, hell, maybe I could slam a "Administrator" label on profile if I want to, right? I know these tweaks can be done easily on your side, but they don't affect the server/database, and by extension, other users, right?
Visual tweaks would be just visible to you. Most patrons just want to be able to customize what is visible to them anyway; very few do it because they want a fancy name to show off. But a button that lets you delete a comment for a limited time would at some point be visible to the user, and without checks in place server-side to make sure the timer is respected, someone could make an edit to the CSS to make that button always visible. If the button is clicked, it will delete the post; what should be done is not just make a button that hides itself after 10 minutes, but to make sure that you cannot delete your post after 10 minutes, whether the button is visible or not. Regarding your Administrator role comment, as stated, you would see that you're listed as Administrator, but you wouldn't actually be able to do Administrator things, and you would be the only one to see that role on yourself, ergo, it's only visual, and only visible to you.
