The most accurate translation of 酪 may simply be thickened food product, in which case jelly is the most natural translation - but maybe etymologically misleading

The term seems to have been used for dairy products first - and some people question whether chinese LAo might ultimately have a similar origin to Greek gaLA and latin LAc
