It is so strange to see development of hardware prices in the last decade... The 3DS still costs around the same as new, sometimes even more, the Switch never really had a stable price drop in 8 Years, PS5 and now Xbox even increasing prices...
And tons of no name devices, that are very generic and are replaced every 2 month...
That is some 4D chess right there, and it's right in line with Nintendo's executives. Time will tell, if the Switch 2 ends up being the budget-friendly choice.Imagine if all of these price hikes from Sony and especially MS for thier consoles (that have no games) ends up making the Switch 2 look budget friendly in comparison, that would be fucking embarrassing, especially since well... The Series S isn't exactly carrying the total sales given that Microsoft groups both when they tell us how many Xbox Series consoles they have sold

This isn't even the fault of President Trump, but M$ following Sony and Nintendo. My fellow 'muricans, are we tired of "winning" yet?

M$: "If Sony and Nintendo can do it why can't we?$80 price increase on games is crazy on 5 year old hardware. And after 5 years its crazy to increase the price on old console by $100. Thanks Nintendo/tariffs/greed.

"Chances are yes this will happen. All tech stuff is rising in price at this point. Though it seems Sony's method to avoid price hikes in the US is to just hike it in the rest of the world so they can avoid screwing over their main audience.Imagine if all of these price hikes from Sony and especially MS for thier consoles (that have no games) ends up making the Switch 2 look budget friendly in comparison, that would be fucking embarrassing, especially since well... I would say 50/50. Tariffs are definitely a factor considering all the moving parts needed to make an XBox. We can also blame Nintendo for be a cocky, overconfident asshole and opening the pricing floodgates. All of this is further proof why low end gaming devices and catering to them is more important now than ever. All of those rich kids bitching and moaning, about low end "holding their gaming back", solely because they need to justify their $2,000 rig can STFU. Unless they want to be playing with AI bots all day, people in large masses will soon be priced out of gaming. This fucking industry is headed for a crash. Everyone should stock up on as much old school and pirated games as possible. When the crash hits, it's going to be rock bottom for folks that only play new stuff and F2P games. This isn't even the fault of President Trump, but M$ following Sony and Nintendo.
Rockstar will most likely try to charge $99.99 for the standard edition of GTA VI. Games are already at €90 ($102), in the EU Zone for some Switch 2 games.
This is all out of control. I'm not ashamed of admitting, I'll just pirate whatever.

Yep! Back when upper limit was $300 vs PCs being $1000, there was a solid rhyme and reason for consoles, but NOW when they're damn near like med-spec towers and still don't easily allow piracy of those $70+ games....consoles are just a complete fucking waste of time now. go pc all the way
I feel like these major companies have lost the script in the last few gens. Exclusives are the lifeblood of a console, but even the big companies, like Sony, have been porting their stuff to PC pretty reliably. They've been buying up dev studios, but the end result hasn't been more unique and exclusive games. I wouldn't mind a discussion on what graphics mean to today's market, since we're not experiencing the same dramatic leaps we did in the 90's and 2000's.I haven't seen a good reason to buy a playstation or an xbox in years. The hardware can't compare to PC, the libraries are smaller than PC, all of their exclusives are being ported to PC, and every few years they try to sell you a new console with marginal improvements. Playstation won't even let you play your old games on their hardware unless you buy them again on their store, and even then they only have a handful of their library on their store.
part of the reason there isnt as many exclusives is because the engines developers use to code now have tools that easily can port from one engine to another. not flawlessly but if these developers tried to release alot of things as exclusive there would end up groups created solely to port these games by emulation or decompilation as to be playable on PC. PC gamers arent going to stop making games available to PC. Companies understand this and dont want to try to fight illegal piracy when they can profit and at the same time shut down pirates reasoning for pirating exclusives.I feel like these major companies have lost the script in the last few gens. Nintendo has a better idea of the general industry, focusing on exclusives that sell on gameplay and brand recognition. They've been diversifying with products like the Alarmo and putting games and services on smartphones. The Switch was great for combining portability with a home console, which is why the Switch 2 is just an expansion on that concept.
