Hi you all,

As my title suggests, I have a gen 1 unpatched switch. I have been running atmosphere CFW since 2019 with no issues. Then, 2 months ago, as my wife was playing animal crossing (in handheld mode) the switch froze up and began to complain about no sd card detected.

Eventually I discovered it was the sd card (FPC connector ). There were broken or missing pins. I sent it to a micro soldering expert (wayaeo) and he repaired it and now it works great again.

Apparently when I sent it to him for the repair work, it was somehow reformatted. When I sent it to him it was on OFW 18.0 but when I got it back it has reverted to OFW 8.0.1.

Before sending it in for repair, I saved the contents of my 256GB sd card to my laptop.

After the repairs, when I insert my sd card, the switch complains that this sd card was used in another switch and must be reformatted.

Any advice and assistance is tremendously appreciated.

Did you also check what was your serial number before sending it for repair? The repairman might have sent you a different console. Does fusée gelée still work? Have you tried pushing a payload?

Thank you dust2dust, the sticker on the outside of the shell still has my original seriel and although I cannot remember how I accomplished it during my original hacking of my switch, when you look in system settings under serial, that entry is blank (no serial). It was that way when I sent it for repairs and it is that way now.

You may have a file on your SD card in the atmosphere folder (or is it root, I can't remember) named exosphere.ini, and inside that text file, a line saying "blank_prodinfo_sysmmc=1". This would prevent your serial number from showing. You can put it back to "=0" to display your serial number again. Reboot atmosphere. This is just to check if you got your own machine back from the repairman.

Thank you for the advice. I found my exosphere file in the root of my sd card. There are 2 lines in the exosphere.ini that are similar to what you posted. There is:

"blank_prodinfo_sysmmc=1
and
blank_prodinfo_emummc=1"

First I tried your advice and changed each one to 0 and then rebooted and whether I boot into ofw or cfw it still shows a blank seriel.

Then I tried completely deleting each blank_prodinfo line and then rebooting. Even after all that my serial is still blank. 🤔 I'm puzzled.

If modifying the exosphere.ini file has no effect, it probably means you used incognito to blank your serial. I never used incognito, so I can't really help you much in that department. I believe you need a backup of your prod.info to restore your serial.

Yessir. You jogged my memory. I did use incognito. So far, at this time I am having difficulty getting incognito to restore my prodinfo. After I received my newly repaired switch in the mail, in my effort to get the switch to recognize my sd card, I decided to update my OFW to 19. Well, apparently incognito does not work with OFW 19.

Looks like I am stuck. I may need to rollback my firmware. Thank you dust2dust.

You don't need to boot all the way into the system, iirc Hekate can check all that info for you. If you did emummc you have to move it with Hekate, there's guides on how to do that. Other than that I believe Hekate can fix the contents of the sd card too, I'd look into it as your source of solution.
