being able to get movable.sed without cfw was like one of the most popular ways to install cfw for a while. you've never heard of seedminer?
Come on, of course I've heard of seedminer. I was wondering if M. BlackHazard had heard of seedminer, because it seems very strange that he would have heard of seedminer and ninfs and somehow not threeSD, and then also not have installed cfw. And besides, no one's needed to use seedminer for a while now.

Maybe M. BlackHazard just randomly downloaded someone else's movable.sed instead. That's why I was asking.

it's an old method, someone could have just partially done it back in the days and never finished, and then come back a few years later wanting to extract their data. but we have to be snarky in asking how they got their file, instead of actually asking the actual questions we have in mind, so here we are

if you're worried that it might not be the right movable.sed then maybe ask that instead of questioning how someone could have the file without cfw. not that you'll actually learn anything from this though

It is more straightforward than using ninfs. (I for one haven't suggested ninfs in some time now.) Be sure to read the first few posts in the thread.
I didn't find anything else, everything I found talked about ninfs and using secrets.py.
Now that I checked it out and played with it a bit, I made it! Thank you!
Random fact, when I decrypted the extdata and imported it with Checkpoint, it didn't work (the game said data was corrupted) and I can't quite grasp why, since when I did the exact same thing with JKSM with the same files, it did perfectly work...

How did you get movable.sed without installing CFW..?
I used the bruteforce online method by registering it as a friend and by giving it the ID0 from the SD.

Sir, I think asking "How did you get your movable.sed without CFW" is considerably more direct and likely to provide an informative response than asking something like "Are you sure you have the right movable.sed". And I think suggesting someone else is unfamiliar with "like one of the most popular ways to install cfw for a while" is a whole different level of snarkiness, thank you very much.

Hello,

I still can't figure out why the 3DS won't boot anymore after exchanging SD cards.. it boots to the Luma3DS menu (not sure if this is the right name, it's a white screen where I can select Luma3DS or HomeBrewMenu) then reboots and then it freezes. With the old SD card everything works fine.

- I copied all the content from the old SD card to the new one
- I formatted the new card several times with different tools to FAT32 - nothing changed
- I tried several microSD adapters
- I tried other microSD cards
- H2testw didn't find any issues

Any other ideas?

I found this post by ThoD: https://gbatemp.net/threads/3ds-sd-card-help.540666/#post-8673732

Could that be an issue?

Inside the old "Nintendo 3DS" folder there were actually two "ID0" folders (and a "Private" folder), one is 17MB the other one is around 4GB. So I tried removing the "Nintendo 3DS" folder from the new SD card, booted the 3DS once in order to recreate it.
The newly created ID0 folder has the same name as the smaller 17MB folder from before. Only one ID0 folder was created.

I then copied the files from the old "ID1" folder to the new ID1 folder.

But that also didn't help.. same problem as before..

EDIT: After some googling it seems like there shouldn't be two ID0 folders, right? But why is the "real" ID0 folder the smaller one?

Does the system boot if you have nothing on the SD card but boot.firm? Because if it still doesn't boot in that case, there's no point in worrying about the contents of the "Nintendo 3DS" folder.

The only reason you should have multiple ID0 folders is if you used the same SD card in multiple different units, or if you did a System Transfer or System Format. Did you do that?

That sounds really old. Did you have an emuNAND on your old SD card? Because that wouldn't be copied by a normal copy operation. That could also explain the multiple ID0 folders, come to think of it.

If you have an emuNAND, you can move it back to your sysNAND by following https://3ds.hacks.guide/move-emunand.html . There is little point to having an emuNAND anymore, unless perhaps you are using a Gateway cart.

Thanks for your input! It's been a while since I did anything with the 3DS, so I can't tell for sure. But now that you mention it - if I put the old SD card into my PC, there is a partition that Windows can't read. that might be the emuNAND right?

Also, I checked the Luma Version and it's on v7.0.5. so yeah... it's quite old.

So what would be the best thing to do here? Follow the move emunand guide and then updating luma by following this? https://3ds.hacks.guide/a9lh-to-b9s

Do I have to worry about losing any savegames?

That is most likely, yes.

It's been so long since I've read about an emuNAND that I'm not entirely sure anymore... But yes, I believe that's how it goes.

If you are at all concerned about losing your save games, then you should be backing them up with Checkpoint.

Sorry for been DUMB here but I am really ???

I have read the guide on 3dshacks over and over, I've even watched YouTube videos where people say they have a permanent bricked 3DS console, where it won't do anything at all.

I've grabbed a brand new SD card for my console, set up the files as per the instructions on 3dshacks, inserted SD card into my 3DS console, nothing happens.

I have multiple R4 cards, one which is listed as compatible, it has the Wi-Fi icon on it.

I have set up another new SD card with its files as per instructions on 3dshacks, inserted it into my console, again nothing.

I tried inserting my R4 card into another 3DS console which I had nodded exactly the same way years ago, but forgot what method it was.

When booting the R4 card, gives the card error and power off message.
When booting the R4 card in a normal DS, it shows an SD card with Menu? Text.

I am completely stupid here, people say they can recover a permanent bricked 3DS, but my console is able to enter its official recovery mode, but refuses to connect to my WiFi to download/install the firmware update. I assume this is because this console is JAP region.

My console was set to trigger what ever exploit by holding the assigned button it let you assign when turning console on.

Then from there I'd boot whatever from the HBL menu.

My other console (Australian) set up exactly the same, but to auto boot exploit and then assigned a button to NOT trigger the exploit, so after selecting whatever from the HBL menu, it'd then boot to the CFW consoles home menu.

I have another which again used same exploit, but I had forgotten the assigned button, so this one I installed Luma CFW to it.

Would anyone be able to help by sending me a PM, because for some reason my notifications on here are messed up and show me things that are old or I've not joined and regardless if I click them, they'll show up again.

Thanks

If you have a really old exploit installed, then the most recent boot.firm for Luma may not work.

When booting the R4 card, gives the card error and power off message.
Not clear what you mean by this. Do you mean booting the card with the magnet for ntrboot? Or do you mean booting the card from the 3DS home menu? Does it still show up as a particular game?

Using the magnet trick because my jap console won't do anything other than the factory recover where you hold buttons on boot and it tries downloading the firmware update.

When inserted it shows a game icon like a bomb or something like

1 question: did you put the ntrboot files on the sd card of the r4? I say that because reading your earlier post I thought you may have put the files on the console's sd instead of the r4's sd card. By the way can you take a picture of that r4 card?

It sounds like you haven't flashed your cartridge yet. Your cartridge might be compatible, but ntrboot is never going to work if the cartridge isn't flashed, as discussed at the bottom of https://3ds.hacks.guide/ntrboot.html . That means the first thing you will have to do is find the necessary kernel files to enable your R4 to function normally so you can run the flasher.

Can I just vent here the fact that Because My 3DS broke. I bought a new Nintendo 3DS XL. I went through the whole process of modding it again.

But I was very disappointed inventing the fact that I have to now redownload and install all of my cia files again.

If you get a software all of my games are there. You just have an x on them.

When I reinstall Spotify games will it overwrite the current file on my SD card? Or is it going to tell me that I don't have enough space?

Can I just vent here
If you're looking for more help regarding the problem you posted about in another thread, then posting about it in a different thread is just going to be needlessly confusing. If you're not looking for help then the purpose of your post is confusing.

This sentence is very unclear, especially since it's not clear what you did, but it's possible you just need to run Faketik.

When I reinstall Spotify games
:wtf:

Well, the other thread was about transferring my current data from that system to the other. So let's say I've never modded my system ever and never intended to. I bought a brand new system and I just wanted to transfer what was there to the new system that's what that thread was about.

When you look at my software on my SD card it shows every single one of my games in my Nintendo folder with an X over them.
I was hoping once I modded my system that popping in my memory card would work.

I have 33 pages worth of games.

Which is fine. I'll just redownload my files and reinstall them. Not a big deal. That's why I said just venting.

Spotify thing? I don't know. That's a Google translate thing I guess.

I'm about to find out the answer to this question cuz I'm awake now but once I download a install the CIA. Will it say I'm out of space or will it already occupy the save data that I have on my SD card for that game?

Cuz there is the possibility that I have to go to my software, click on the game with the X and delete it which is fine. I'll find it out in a minute.

If the installed games are on the sd card from the old 3ds, popping that sd card into a newer 3ds will make a different ID0 folder if I remember right but it doesn't delete the old games. ID0 folder contents are encrypted by console so you can't just swap sd card between 2 3dss, I don't know if using faketik would help in this situation since like I said, per console encryption. There's also cthulu, but I think it might work since when doing a region change you kinda convert it to a new console and if I remember right using cthulu you make tickets for the games installed already

Edit: you can try faketik https://github.com/ihaveamac/faketik/releases/tag/v1.1.2

If you bought a different system and didn't transfer anything, then why are the games you never installed showing up in Data Management!? This makes no sense. Are you sure they're your games and not just games from the previous owner?

If you remove your SD card, do the games still appear there?

If you never did any kind of System Transfer, then none of the data on the SD card will be readable on your current system. There's no point to leaving that old data there. You should just backup everything on the SD card (just in case) and format it.

Am I able to hardmod my o2ds into n2ds level hardware, WITHOUT a n2DS? I'm not asking if I can put n3DS games specifically on my o2DS, but rather "upgrading" the o2DS to n2DS-like components, like the CPU.

im sorry if this is a really dumb question
