People have been asking "softmod when?" since king kong exploit first appear, so that's 18 years ago. If this despite the person making it saying "this isn't the softmod people want" it somehow turns into one, does that help the people asking 18 years ago when people said never? Are they still waiting?
You're missing the point I'm making. The discovery of an Xbox 360 softmod is a monumental achievement precisely because it took so many years to crack. This timespan doesn't diminish the accomplishment - it amplifies it. It demonstrates the incredible complexity of the security systems that needed to be understood and overcome.

Many people still own their Xbox 360s and will benefit from developments, regardless of when they first asked about softmods. Someone who asked in a Se7ensins thread in 2013 or 2017 and kept their console could absolutely take advantage of new developments today. The passage of time doesn't invalidate the achievement or its usefulness.

Reading through his comments on twitter, he says he worked for MS. So that, possibly, is why he is the first to find such an exploit.

We never know though, someone else may be able find one of their own. Hopefully an actual dashboard (menu) exploit could be found instead of having to limit this to one game for now.
Maybe even one could be found in Skyrim since the save files can get near 20 MB's and the fact that this is one of the few games on the Xbox 360 that makes me have to press the power button multiple times before it will shut down.

If it means finally being able to use a software exploit on newer kernel versions, then I'm 100% for it!

I hope that exploiting the hypervisor means being able to bypass the eFuses and flash an older kernel to get the Blades dashboard back, but that might be wishful thinking.

Maybe temporarily. I mean, it (blades) could possibly be spoofed with a higher kernal number than the latest one but, either way I have no idea.

Someone said MS still has an unused dashboard on their servers. Maybe they are waiting to block an exploit with it.

cool if only i had a working 360 now...
And don't forget you also need the original Tony Hawk Wasteland x360 game. (Which I imagine the price for a used copy will skyrocket)

I'm curious if after doing this exploit, can you run unsigned executable like Aurora.xbe and then play "backups". I'm sure eventually someone will create a workaround using this, still pretty cool.

No. But its not that expensive to get a 360 with rgh.
I understand the developer have retired from hacking Xbox 360 now. So someone else will have to pick up the torch and make this exploit more useful
The exploit itself will not get better in terms of boot times.
It's also not meant to be used as a softmod - the developer stated this several times.
Right now it's mainly a POC and will probably remain as one forever.
For the enduser the only real use case, is to get the CPU key from Winchester models and flash the DVD FW, or use an ODE.
Everyone else should get JTAG'd/RGH'd consoles.

EDIT: I has also just been confirmed, that the exploit works on Winchester models with PAL versions of the game.

Unfortunately, I cannot do the exploit as copies of Tony Hawk American Wasteland is far too expensive over here, not without installing a modchip or do RGH 3.0 which would defeat the whole purpose.
If you have soldered any OG Xbox mods, then doing a RGH mod on 360 is just as easy. You can do it, I'm confident in you.
