There's an option in CFW tools.

So just checking with the evilnat 4.91 cfw. I’m getting a ps3 slim cech-2501A on 4.91, would I not be able to do cfw? I’m hearing it has to be a lower firmware but confused as it’s 4.91 fw

I've recently got a ps3 cech-25xx slim (OFW 4.81), it's not one of the lucky models.
What are my options still available for by now there might be still something possible?
And where can i find the instructions?
Hybrid Firmware aka HEN. And I think the best instructions can still be found from here (PSX-place).

Hi guys , i Just got a ps3 super slim , can i mod It ? How much would the hen mod lose in terms of functions compared to the complete cfw on earlier ps3s models ?

If your main goal is playing, you won’t miss out on anything. Note that you’ll have to enable hen: open an app on the PS3 and wait 10sec everytime you restart the console (whereas cfw is truly permanent and doesn’t require that).
Really OK in my experience except maybe when someone else is playing in your absence and forgets the enable hen part. They won’t break anything by trying though. Official stuff will still work.

Ditto.

HEN felt pretty much like CFW to me, except I had to press one button and it's unlocked. I kinda liked doing that, ya know. 😆

The Super Slim model gets a lot of criticism, but considering how lightweight it is and it's a top loader it's a neat console to use/own. It does look a bit cheaply made.

Yeah, PS1 and PS3 backup compatibility is the same,

PS2 is the same than any other console without PS2 hardware (and believe it or not, netemu is sometimes better than gxemu and in any case you're wasting a lot of power compared to using a real PS2) although you must pre-convert your backups to iso.bin.enc,

you can't mod any executable system files (largely means .sprx) that may be required before starting HEN but you could live without this,

no downgrading/qa flag/fsm/dual boot either but hey, it's well known that CECH-A or B are king in features, if you are fine with the limitations might as well get the most power efficient 28nm models,

if you get a NOR model (ends in B or C) it's as relatively brick proof as any other NOR console (wipe disk in another device and reinstall OS to fix any flash1 fuckup like the kind 2 paragraphs above)

:)

Which is exactly why i don't like it. my cousin had one and the disc sliding tray on his refused to shut completely until after a few tries where you really had to force it..
and it may look small in pictures but it's relatively big, i first expected it to be somewhat close to the size of the PS2 slim..
For me the slim is the best model, if the fats weren't so littered with hardware issues i may have opted for the BC model, even if they're considerably chunky as well..

I changed the title of the thread to make more sense

if anything should be added to the OP let me know.
You should change the fw from 4.91 to the latest 4.92. cfw/hen were updated as well to support it.

I like the art decoish aesthetics of PS3 phat, have couple later models still as my go-to ps3's. Slims are ok, but SS's just are ... meh ... with the top loader and whatnot.

Of course, I have the ultimate (hah) PS2 emulation (hahaha) machine, phat ps 2 with HDD, multitap and the works, so PS2 emulation isn't an issue (and couple of spares lying aroud if hitting H/W issues).

Agreed on looks, except for the blue super slim in my very personal opinion!

More on the super slim use case:
If your main system is a (jailbroken) ps4/5, then all you need is a backwards comptability "add-on" for PS3 games and (why not) audio CDs. In that spirit, the smaller the system, the better, meaning: super slim. Bonus: if your main is PS5, DS gamepads natively pair with PS3 (no rumble but acceptable for occasional couch coop / hello Castlevania Harmony of Despair).

Dream:
A 3D-printed stand to stack the super slim on top of a PS5 fat. Result would be the PS5, backwards edition.
Only found one projet but different combo ().

That's a pretty neat idea.

I personally prefer to have consoles stand vertically now as it takes less space, but I used to be the type of guy to always have them horizontally. Can't really have an N64, Dreamcast, SNES, Genesis, or GCN vertically (I guess you can, it's just not ideal). lol

I have a problem
since a few months, I have an error while login in to PSN (without activating HEN first)
it works, and everything is fine
the problem its that it signs me out every 2 or 3 minutes after login in

would deleting the user and adding the PSN account again on a new one fix this?
I got another user for PS3Hen license activations
I just wanna be able to log in into my main PSN Account and be able to browse the store without getting signed out every few minutes
