I was recently given a number of TWL EVAs (DSi factory test). There were a few versions of NCHECK, a tool used to make sure that the installed firmware and region is correct before shipping out the DSi. There were the normal regions like USA, JPN, KOR, EUR, and then ASI???? The main NCHECK screen shows "southeast asia".

I was not aware of any such version, even in leaks. I have also checked 120+ NANDs and did not see the expected entry in nand:/sys/log/product.log:
0,NCHECK,OK,1.0, , , ,NCHECK ASI (4EE0),

I have tested every single region NAND and all of them resulted in "wrong s/n region" (the second character in the serial). I'm also unable to find any helpful strings in the dump. Since it does not accept any known regions and has no mention anywhere, could this have been a cancelled version or something else?

Also yes, the TWL EVAs are all dumped and may appear on a certain DSi dev app documentation site soon...

Bleh, gbatemp is going to complain at me for double posting. Anyways after some searching I found a singapore DSi on carousell. I guess my clickbaity "lost region" title was wrong haha

The back says TWL-ASI which is awesome, but of course the owner blocked the non-identifying part of the serial! Grr I'd really love to know what the 2nd character is. If you've got one of these please let me know.

After searching for the supplier of this DSi known as "Active Boeki K.K", I found another listing for a Southeast Asia DSi on Carousell with the serial number uncensored. 'T' is the device suffix for a DSi, and the country code suffix is 'S' for Middle East/Southeast Asia. This appears to be already documented here: https://www.3dbrew.org/wiki/Serials
