quick sanity check..

I got a switch running 17.0.1 AMS 1.6.2IE Atmosphere

what would the steps and order be to get upgraded to firmware version 19.0?

p.s how is firmware 19 - any known problems or generally ok?

Google Atmosphere Switch, download latest for 19
Search on GBATemp for sigpatches, download them off first post
Delete old Atmosphere folder
Copy new Atmosphere folder
Copy sigpatches over Atmosphere folder (inside the main folder obviously)
Install firmware 19.0 via Daybreak

Also update your Hekate and use it or updated fusee.bin for sending payload through TegraRCM.

Edit: actually just read the first post and follow the instructions seems some things changed in 19 I am still on 18.1.

firmware 19 is buggy, you want firmware 19.0.1 that fixed the bugs.

ok so how stable is Atmosphère 1.8.0 ? it is saying that it is pre release.

should I stick with 1.7.1 for now? or will I need to get to 1.8.0 as I am going to install firmware 19.0.1

If you're going to use firmware 19.0.1, you have no choice but to use the latest Atmosphere. Anything else wouldn't work.

Understood

However, Is it stable
Any known issues? This switch is on FM 17.0.1 and i am unsure if latest games would work on this FM
Untested

Might as well stay on 18.1.0 first, new releases like mario luigi brothership and Yakuza Kiwami runs fine on 18.1.0 and don't require 19.0 yet

Ok but how would i do that then exactly?

I struggle to understand which version of atmosphere i would need and how i go about installing that exact firmware or 18.1.0? As when i go to the stock firmware it will prob automatically update to 19.0.1

You can pick what firmware to update on emunand via Daybreak, since you need to download individual firmware first.
use latest atmosphere if possible since sometime latest fixes some known issue and it always backward support.
BTW, I never delete old atmosphere but just overwrite files when unzip latest pack. Not sure if that would have any issue.

Thanks thats all v helpful

I will instead upgrade the console to 18.1.0 instead of 19+

Great But it says in the guide not to upgrade to v19? Is that information not up to date?
The note on guide is trying to get the noobies from upgrade to V19 and the start crying about all not working, but the only thing you need if upgrade to Atmosphère 1.8.0 IS REBUILT AND REINSTALL ALL YOUR FORWARDERS.

i managed to update hekate, atmosphere and the firmware is now on 18.1.0 (played it safe for now)

out of interest, is it safe or not safe to actually upgrade the stock firmware to latest version?

I really wanted to play super mario maker 2 online because i never got the level injector thing to work and i love that game!

I would just update to 18.x, there is never a point to update CFW to the latest version and sometimes it causes issues so it's a good habit to always stay a version behind. You lose nothing since games don't require the newest version and the only change in updates is "stability".

If you use emunand and sysnand it is always safe to update sysnand, that is the whole point of having both. It of course is never safe to play backups online or be online with emunand.

I have the following setup:

1. CFW - emuMMC
running 18.1.0 (just upgraded)

2. CFW - sysMMC - Running V 17.1.0

3. Stock - SysMMC - Running V 17.1.0

So it is safe for me to go in and update the firmware to latest ie 19.1.0 on 2 and 3 above and play online with a catridge game? ie there will be no downloaded games etc.

if so, should I choose the stock or the CFW to do this upgrade on? ie 2 or 3?
