Howdy,

Pretty new to this so please be kind! :D

I've recently modded my v1 switch, install was fine and smooth. However all was fine until i've tried to simply game whilst docked! :(

The console becomes extremely laggy, unresponsive at times and slow, It may take 3-5 mins to boot into games. but pull it off the dock and it's back to normal speed. One thing the dock mode struggles with is general settings - It appears to not update the TV - Loading a game and choosing a user it's 50/50 it'll display whilst docked on the TV - Un-dock and the user screen is already there waiting.

Docked games feel like the frame pacing is way off and they're playing at say 15-20fps?

I've searched high and low and found similar issues, but nothing has resolved my woes with docked. So my main SD card is brand new, and benchmarks fine - Averages around 100mbps - Fat32

So I'll try and answer questions before they're asked below.

Games from cart - Still the same
SD Card change - Tried a different card with the same build / fresh build
The SD Card is partitioned for emunand
Atmosphere / Hekate - multiple rebuilds, and clean installs - No change
Overclocking dock mode via Sys-clk to max avail - No change
Tried 4x docks and 3x chargers - No change
Multiple HDMI cables - All HDMI 2.1 cables - No change.
TV - It's not game mode related, but it's on game mode on an LG C1 - Also tried with another - Same.
There's no thermal throttling from the switch - The system is re-pasted with Arctic silver 5
erpt_reports - Cleared - No difference.
Aeroplane mode - On/Off - Makes no difference (Yep all nin services are blocked)
Tried in sys / emu and stock and it's still poor performance docked
Different pads / joycons - No Change

I've included a few screens, only thing i noticed when docked is higher usage on core #3

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! The switch is unplayable docked, but amazing un-docked -

Thank you. :)

Not sure if the dock update has anything to do with the lag?

Maybe the partition as stated in link?

EDIT : link

Hey thanks for the reply! The docks are all just original docks - Sure they can't be updated via firmware? Just the Oled models it appears?

My issue is very similar to the linked issue - However my games do work, but the pacing is way off feels like 15-20 fps and takes looooong to load, but not as bad as the guys DBZ fighters video. For example Docked a game say takes 10 secs to load - Docked it'll take 1-2 mins

The partition - I've tried multiple SD cards with different / fresh partitions - All fat 32

It just doesn't make sense. :(

Hey, the USB looks fine, and it displays to TV output, probably needs replacing as it's a little weak sometimes and docking needs to be babied- Have to just slightly inset in at the top of the usb/dock, as a full insert it doesn't display to the TV but always charges.

The article is very interesting. It's the exact same issue. However I'm in the UK per that I shouldn't be effected, but who knows. It used to be fine docked. I've got other modded switches that are absolutely fine. Just this unit makes no sense.

Thanks for the reply. ☺️

OP in the thread linked before reported the USB port was the problem there, and replacing that fixed it. It's worth it to have it checked, all the more so if it's loose as you say.

Exact same problem. Mariko V2 Switch. Bought a few weeks ago and modded by myself with picofly modchip (done easy and way cleaner than many video tutorials out there). Never tried the Switch docked before modding...

So modchip install went fine, SD card is brand new and benchmarks awesome, payload, Hekate and Atmosphere, everything up to date and running.

After I first noticed the problem I tried different TV and monitors, different HDMI cables, updating OFW and CFW software to no avail.
The only thing I haven't tried yet is a different dock (but the one I'm using is brand new out of the box).
I tried only at my place, so it might be electrical interference, but I have no problems with other electronics.

Docked the Switch is so laggy it is painful even navigating the menus, lauching a game takes forever (it's the same in OFW, CFW Emummc or CFW Sysnad, cartridge game or SDcard it's the same).

Sad thing is I don't know if it even worked before modding the console.

The console is brand new, so I don't think the USB can be bad out of the box, or I hope so.

Maybe OP have an update on the issue?

Any help appreciated.

It's an old thread but have you noticed your gpu is running almost half its original clock speed? Ram speed is also slower than original, default docked speed is 1020/768/1600mhz cpu/gpu/ram.

It's running handheld mode - being docked. Not sure if it's part of the issue, or op just forced it to run this way.

What do you recommend for checking core speed and power usage in real time? Does the Switch have a special power profile that is enabled only when docked?

And by the way, I'm sorry if I digged up an old thread, I am new here and tought a 2 months old thread with the exacts same issue was fine.

Installed Tesla lib and got the overlay to show frequencies. When docked Core #3 is stuck at 99% and CPU is massively underclocked at 250Mhz, the target frequency seems to be set right @1020Mhz. Handheld everything is fine and runs @1020Mhz, so the Switch can do it but it won't when docked, strange.

I noticed the power draw stat docked was -2w which should not happen unless you're doing some very high overclocks, it almost looks like the switch is not charging docked for some reason.

Sorry to necro but did you ever fix this? I'm having the same thing on my OLED. Power draw from the USB port looks normal but the console is unusable while docked, like its extremely underclocked/throttled.

Do you have sys clock installed ? That bugged out on me once before and changed it’s docked settings to the lowest value giving me this same issue

I'm having the exact same issue as. i also checked sys-clk and when it says "official charger" instead of "docked" when the slowdown begins. I managed to fix the issue for a few weeks by using a different charger with my dock but the problem is back again somehow.

Sorry to necro again :) Did you ever resolve this? Having this problem on both switches I've modded.

I FOUND THE SOLUTION! :D
Well kinda?
Okay, I have no idea if this solution will work with ALL your switches, BUT it worked with mine.

WARNING ⚠️
Doing this may damage the console's battery. Please keep this in mind if you intend to do this. (I am not responsible if your console suffers long-term damage; I am only sharing a solution I found online.)

FIRST: I will tell you what the conditions of my console:
-It works well in handheld mode.
-When connected to the dock, it ran games slowly, including the menu.
-When I entered the console's settings menu, it was slow and took a long time to load.

If you have the same problems, maybe this little guide will help you.

SECOND: What you need to do this tutorial
Ultrahand menu:https://github.com/ppkantorski/Ultrahand-Overlay
SaltyNX:https://github.com/masagrator/SaltyNX
FPSlocker:https://github.com/masagrator/FPSLocker
Sys-clk:https://github.com/retronx-team/sys-clk

GREAT! Now that you have everything, you're going to put all the files on your console. If you don't know how to do it, please read a guide or watch a YouTube video.

THIRD: Okay gentlemen and germs, once you have everything installed you're going to enter a game in handheld mode To do this, they will perform the button combo (L+R+R3+D-PAD DOWN)

1)Once inside the game, open the Ultrahand menu, enter ReverseNX, and select the "fake handheld mode" option.

2)Now go back to the previous menu and enter FPSlocker. Once there, select the "increase fps" option and raise it to 60fps.

3)And last but equally important, go back to the previous menu, enter sys-clk, click "enable," then go to "Edit app profile" and activate the maximum capacity in all options.
It should look something like this --->
CPU 1785Mhz
GPU 921Mhz
Memory 1600Mhz

4)Once configured, close the Ultrahand menu and connect the console to the dock. If you've done everything correctly, voila! It should work at normal speed.

FINALLY: I hope this tutorial helps you It was really hard to figure out everything in this tutorial, but thank you so much for reading, and I hope you have g
reat gaming sessions.

BYEEEEE :3
